you got to be in it to win it. i think thats all there is to it. a deer can move anytime. There is the early move , then the afternoon move , and then finally the witching hour move. The rain move, and after a storm move. Now the , just hunt every minute you can,for the next two weeks... its cards on the table.Good luck to all.we need to see some more bucks posted.I am about to cheat and start looking at other forums.

Im ready . Went to the club to shoot it a few more times.Stacking arrows at 55 yards.Hope i dont have to shoot it that far. But its nice to know.I think there could be a lot of string jumping at that distance.

i picked this upon camera on Halloween night at 8:30. It seems to be a popular scrape thats the 3rd buck that I caught using it.

turn down your screen brightness .bright screens suck battery. or get your self a portable charger, just charge it up and take it with you.

yeah i can sew with the best of them so that shits easy for me and i have access to all kinds of grommets and snaps and buckles. good luck with your stand. I did one years ago, i took of all the metal hardware and made it as light as possible.

Ive lost one in the rain, more than likely it was a bad shot on my part... but he was right in front of me 25 yards 15 feet below me. i never found the arrow. maybe one lunged him. i searched for those bones for almost two years and i never found anything. So in the end I don't blame the rain.I seen some real nice bucks in the rain. Fighting tending does and running off smaller bucks. Its hot in the rain as far as i am concerned.

Scope Mounting Via Box Store (NFG)
vizslas replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Horror stories from big box store. I bought my Thompson .50 cal at dicks and had my gunsmith put on the scope.Rest in Peace my Friend. Jimmy Salasney was a good guy and an even greater gunsmith, boy he had some sweet sweet pistols, one offs from Thompson Center he would tell me. but anyway kids putting on rifle scopes, where is that even a good idea. They were hired to do retail, to sell crap to people.Ill bet that guy doing five or six a week didnt get even one of them right. bunch of knobs working on guns. God i hated Gander Mountain. So close and so much hate I would go to dicks instead... Lets not forget supporting your local pro shops . like Martha Stewart says "Its a good thing" -
grab a couple book bag straps , you know the ones with the padded straps. Cut them off and just add them to you shoulder straps and remember tight is right . get that thing as high on your back as you can.Next get yourself a padded seat bottom either for an outdoor chair or for an inside one. They come in different thicknesses, so look around. Affix this to the bottom of your treestand platform , the part next to your back and zip tie the shit out of it. Use a ballpoint pen like a Bic to poke the holes, that way they are round holes and less likeley to rip , as if you slit it with the knife.have your wife sew the straps on to your harness for the platform or melt holes with a hot nail and use some small 1/4 -20 bolts

How much do you shoot your deer rifle/shotguns
vizslas replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
i generally dont shoot my muzzleloader. its my go to gun.My shotgun has open sights so anything more than fifty yards is a long shot for sluggers. now my muzzleloader has been shot and shot and shot again. it has its favorite round and load of powder. I take it to the range before deer season to shoot alll of the grease out of it and to get it into hunting mode , witch is avery fine line of being dirty and clean. its a muzzleloader thing.I will get about ten to fifteen rounds through it before the season -
i love the act of shooting my crossbow. Everything else about them seems to be a pain. wax this lube that keep your fingers down , then there is the de-cocking issues. Also it says in my handbook from Barnett that you should never leave the bow cocked for more than 4 hours. On top of that the strings and cables do not last as long either. As far as vertical bows go i started shooting them in the mid 70's. Love Love Love. I will be shooting a girls compound when I get old if thats what it takes. If that happens I want that nifty pink camo patterns, only because after i gut the buck i might have forgotten where I laid the bow. Old age is a bummer.Either way if its legal and I can use it, then I want one and i want to be proficient in its use. just like my muzzle loader.

they go out and shoot a deer and then film all the rest of the nonsense. I don't watch any of them.No time to live vicariously through anybody else.

Getting these #%!&@! tiny burrs off my gear.
vizslas replied to TreeHugger's topic in General Hunting
i have to watch where i walk when i get to the field because its edges are full of those things. It helps to be able to identify the plants so you can avoid them. -
A mature deer is anything that's left in the freezer from last season.

Field & Stream's "discounts" are getting very old, and probably illegal

people walking on private land with their dogs. during the season. second are the neighbors trying to sneak onto posted land.

Last year i took a one sided 4 point. this year.Since I cant hunt yet i went to check cameras, these two fellas just might be related . whats going on with these deer. there is quite a few lopsided deer running around where i hunt.these guys are working the same scrape

venison should never reach anything over 150 degrees internal temp.
-
Larger deer can cause more physical damage than small ones. Therefore if its a physics question,I think i will hold out
-
here goes something. seen a lot of does and only a handful of bucks.fingers crossed hopes are high .temps are down and i am tired but here we go good luck
-
those should punch a nasty hole
-
They were not the monsters, at least the last two that hung around for a few minutes I never got a look at the first one. I was just into the woods and to a tree to sit by. Three heartbeats later came the noise ,then the other noise of deer coming. Three bucks , ten yards away two of them stalled right in the open. Like a statue I maintained myself eye to eye with the beast.I thought one was going to walk right into me. That was a long 45 or so seconds.they kinda half walked /trotted away in silence. Sweet stuff. The one and only time that will ever happen. At least I was there

All it is marketing. I remember Hunting with Hank. That was a good show. Short lived but hey a dog doesn't live forever.
