  1. I have been observing worms in my 30 acres of uncut hay. They have chewed the leaves off 50%, leaving the stem and head, other area remain untouched. The rest of the plant starts a dry down process. Finding 1/ sq. ft. They are on the cool, moist, darker soil areas during the day, spreading out as the dew falls.Old leaves , on the soils, seem to be a favorite hiding place. They have traveled over 1 mile, field to field in just 2 nights. The legumes have remained untouched, for now. I have also noticed a fly that is eating the timothy heads. Don't know what that is yet. Now we pay for the mild winter.
  2. Going into Canada is quite easy, it's coming back into New York that can be quite difficult sometimes. As far as Mexico, I hear their walking the top of the unfinished fence for practice.
  3. The first pic would be nice looking, enlarged and framed. Thanks for posting.
  4. Got to say, the man knows what he's doing. With his family history, guess it was born in ,maybe. Glad he didn't have an ear infection. From all that clean water mist, he might have one today.
  5. Their was some mention on local talk radio shows today,of him removing his safety harness once on the cable. He would void his contract from ABC if he did. He usually does these walks without one. My brother in law is there now , U.S. side and says it wall to wall people.
  6. Nik Wallenda will attempt to cross the Horseshoe Falls on a tight rope(cable) from the U.S. to Canada. Your can view it on ABC tonight starting at 8 p.m.
  7. I now have them on the farm. They went through 2 acres of wheat overnight. Just stems and heads standing. They seem to start crawling the stems, up from the ground, after 7p.m.. Also have found some dead worms, so hopefully the fly is here to check their numbers.
  8. A heads up on this people on a serious issue. Their wide spread across Western N.Y.. They spread rapidly and in 2 days, can destroy a field. IT's not unusual to have them, but this year mild winter and early spring has brought them out in huge numbers. Their larvae are nocturnal invisible pests that spread very quickly. They are 2 weeks ahead of their predators, egg laying flies, with a virus that disperses across the fields and kill the larvae. They prefer grasses, wheat, and corn but won't turn their noses up at lawns, and other vegetation in a pinch. They are wiping out entire fields. A second and third wave is possible throughout the summer. Having trouble posting pics this morning. Maybe someone could post some of the larvae and moth. Thanks.
  9. So has it been tabled or what. Anyone know where the Deer Management Plan is now?
  10. Impressed he's staying in the open so long. He's gonna be huge. Good luck with that one.
  11. Have noticed the same here. Sightings of singles only. Still waiting for a fawn pic.
  12. Nice pic. That's a great spot. I can in vision a massive scape under that branch, come fall.
  13. Now that's what it's all about. Finally, somebody nails it. Looking forward to the final version.
  14. Illinois archery season runs from 10-1-2012 to 1-20-2013 nonstop I believe. I could live with crossbow season, second half of archery season if we had dates like that.( If we had to compromise) How many hunters would be out their after Christmas anyways. Well, I know of one, LOL.
  15. Looks really good. Don't see to many like that.
  16. Doc, a lot of people have been spoon feeding you. The information is right in the Land Management section. It's called what's working for them. I see success. It's just not in deer harvest either.Yes, their is need for some logic, but excess just makes it to dam complicated, kinda takes all the enjoyment out of it.
  17. My recurve is all waxed up, bow sling installed, strapped in a hard case. The crossbow is housed in a strapped in hard shell case. Both stored in a dark location. I question whether the arrows should be stored in their respective compartment above the bows, but that's where they are.
  18. Got a nice start. Deer are looking great this year. Enjoy getting those velvet pics.
