  1. X2. Looks like a great system. I wonder how long the line is?
  2. Lol.. once my FIL and I tracked this spike until 10pm one night. When we found him he was still alive and we didn't have any weapons and only one flashlight that worked by then. He tells me to sneak around and jump on him and he would cut his neck.. So of course I did . Well ... I started too.. Then the spike jumped up and lunged towards me. I'd like to say that I tackled him. But I didn't. I jumped out of the way..The buck fell back down just past me and then I jumped on him and we dispatched him. My FIL loves to re-tell this story, how his big tough 250# SIL was scared of a little 150# deer..lol
  3. I had 260,000 on my 02 2500hd before I sold it . Nothing but brakes, 2 door handles, 2 power window regulators. Door handles probably would not have broken if I'd have taken time to chip the ice off around the doors.lol. I only owned it for the last hard 100,000 miles though.;)
  4. I don't believe I've ever wore crocks in the woods.. I did take off my boots and stalk a buck for a few hundred yards..I missed him at 20 yds.lol. I think I will pack a pair of crocks on next year's elk trip for around spike camp.
  5. Ha. Ha. Ha..I've noticed in the last 15 years that I went from always going to the bottom to spending more like 50-70% of my time going up or picking 1 of the easier bottoms to access. Yeah, and I never shoot anything down there except 8 points(I have got a 7 point once) or up.lol. Not worth the time and effort to drag a doe out, for me anyways
  6. I'm not sure on all the specifics or how much things have changed over the years , but there are 10s if not 100s of thousands of acres being actively logged everyday within the park. It's been 20 years but we logged a small parcel (15 acres) within the park and it didn't require any special permits.. North of rt 3 , what I'm fairly familiar with, is mostly all logging territory..
  7. Ha.ha.ha. Been there done that. I was lucky and the monster spike stayed put..;)
  8. Just a few from the northern ADKs.. There is definitely potential... South of rt 3 there is a lot logging happening. If you put some food plots in some of these areas you would have some tremendous hunting..
  9. I know my supplier had to make an appointment months ahead of time to get it scheduled.
  10. All this high priced beef .Ouch!. I will stick to my grass raised ,grain finished beef at around $5.00/# burger and steaks included..
  11. Sadly, my opinion of Trump as a human hasn't changed much over the last 2 elections. Its actually declined. I don't believe he is a good person or actually cares about America. He saw an opportunity and went for it. It is a sad state of affairs..What is even worse is that I voted for him twice because the alternatives stunk ,to put it politely.
  12. You sell any amount of firewood? My 1st business, out of high school was selling firewood I sold 1-2 thousand face cord a year for a while until I switched over to building things.. Somedays I miss it . Until I split a couple cord then not so much.;)
  13. Ash is probably one of the best burning woods when it's still green. Cherry may be a close second or as good.
  14. Well , my gf is still out with friends. So it's just the kid and I. And 2 stupid dogs. The puppy , well she's a little over a year old, won't get off my lap , she's scared.;)
  15. Shush. You jinxed me.lol. My power just went out. And dang if my phone is not close to dead from playing on it all afternoon in the woods.
  16. I have a friend that does this. He uses some sort of motion sensor that sets off an alarm..Annoys the crap out of his wife when he pops out of bed ,opens the window and shoots a coyote..lol
  17. Remington core-lokt is my favorite factory ammo. Close to 100% of the deer I've shot with my 300win mag with 150grain remingtons fall over on the spot. I've tried harder constructed bullets and they all ran. Not far but they ran.lol I'm reloading 130 grain Barnes this year. I like a fast bullet . We will see how they work.
  18. A question. Say 10 years from now we look closely at all the statistics and actually see how many lives we actually saved because of these lockdowns and mandates. Its a harsh way of looking at it but many of the people that have died were not going to survive that many more years anyways. It is a fact that we have lost more people lost to covid than what would have normaly lived on. It is also a fact that there has been a rise in suicides, overdoses, and other cause because of the poorer quality of life. Many family businesses that are ruined and may have provided a good life for their family down the road. People have lost things that they will never get back. Like time spent with a loved one in their last days. Many things that are hard to quantify. Absolutely no one in the main stream media or in control want to address, so we will never really know . IMO we have and will continue to lose way more than what we possibly may have gained.
  19. I'm beginning to get worried. Since I've sat here, I've seen what seems like at least a dozen chipmunks run from right to left. Not a single one has returned..lol
  20. I cannot tell from the pic. Did the antler get shot off or fall off? Looks like it was shot off .lol. don't ask me how I would know what that looks like.
  21. 2 does so far. I just settled in little over an hour ago. We will see how much the deer have this hut timing pegged . This would be the 1st time I've sat on my property all year. There have been 4 bucks killed out of it so far by others. And they only hunt a couple hours morning and night .. In the past, I hunted a fair amount behind where that pylon sits.. anybody that goes to sit in the hut and sees the pylon in the middle of the rd knows the hut is off limits that day.
  22. Remember, you don't pay taxes on the value of your trade in unlike a cash deal. I hadn't realized this until my last deal. I sold my truck to a friend for what the dealer offered for a trade in. It cost me the tax on that more than it would jave it I had traded it in.
