  1. I hear you there. Back in the day I fought the system.. Took me awhile, and a lot of money, to learn to just go with the flow though A guy has to pick his battles.
  2. Costing me right around $100.00 10 for forms 85 for fingerprints/background check etc. Maybe another 10 for picture. I'm in the middle of applying now .
  3. Chef, look talented? Goofy maybe, but talented? lol. Chef's meals look delicious though.
  4. It was..Bought from the local university(SLU) book store. Fun to read about hunting "back in the day". 1/2 of the guides were technically outlaws.lol
  5. Somewhere... I think.. maybe. I havn't seen it in a while.lol. I remember the hunt pretty well. I was slowly still hunting back out towards the truck and saw the deer standing under an apple tree. I pulled the trigger ,she fell . At the same time a huge 9 point and another decent buck jumped over the fence into a brush hole. They must have all been standing together, but I never saw the bigger deer. I got a close look at the 9 because he ran right to my FIL on the other side of the brush..
  6. That's cool. ~20 years ago I shot a 5 point in November. Turned out to be a doe, and the antlers were still in velvet. One of the neighbors said that made her feel better because she was sure she saw a fawn "nursing " on a buck earlier that summer..lol
  7. No, that can't be it. They hit up bbbill..
  8. Gf went down to Syracuse then Waterloo yesterday. She said it felt like heat wave when she was outside. It was -33° here and +18° down there. Crazy 50° temp change.
  9. Just busting on ya. Heck, I turned 1 of my deer into all sausage and hamburg except for the backstraps this year... Lol
  10. Yeah , but you don't split up your nice walnut trim boards into kindling because you have a lot of them.. He needs to man-up and discuss this with his wife.
  11. Definitely a hunter's code violation at the very least.
  12. Not running or turning the woodstove down on those below 0 nights will probably help.
  13. Sounds like the easiest fix for now is the heat tape(pipe wrap you plug in) Are you using a secondary heat source like a pellet stove etc.. often when this is done, especially in a manufactured home , it can lead to freezing problems because the furnace ductwork doesn't radiate the heat underneath like it normally would if the furnace was running more often.. Holy run on sentence.lol
  14. Is it freezing between the trailer and where the water supply comes up from below?
  15. I finished up A deer hunters history book last week. Fun to read about local hunting "back in the day"
  16. I havn't x country skied yet this year. Good reminder. I think I might break them out tomorrow. Snowmobile trail goes right through the property. It makes a great ski trail .
  17. That is funny! Learning to ski in the 80s I was in a hurry to emulate all the expert skiers of the day. Legs locked together. I actually did the whole tie my legs together with a bungy once. ha.ha.ha.
  18. I taught my daughter how to ski when she was 10. 8 years later I think I'm going to lose her to the dark side.lol. she is taking up snowboarding. After she had the basics down I thought maybe I would try snowboarding so I could learn at the same time and have more fun on the easy slopes.. all I can say is skiing skills do NOT tranfer over to snowboarding skills.. I was too old to be hitting the ground so often.lol. I tried telemark gear and liked it. A little more skill tranfer..;)
  19. Listening too that ,and a few other songs really brings back some good high-school memories. My hs gf was a big fan and we would spend alot of time together with his music playing..:)
  20. Did you read Squallywood and play GNAR while you were in Tahoe?
  21. I'm lucky to have a camp on a small clean lake with poor public access , so it is loaded with fish. I will keep 15lbs or so of bass/year that fall in my personal slot limit of 12-15" .
  22. I guess I will have to agree with wolc on one thing . I will take a 14" large mouth caught out of one of "my" small lakes over a 22" walleye out of the St Lawrence any day.
