  1. Yeap, I think that's when they start taxing them too. Vampires
  2. I have seen suggestions about building on skids and not being taxed. I would check with the town you plan on building in. I know locally we are getting taxed on these structures over a certain size.
  3. Jeesh, wolc you're becoming more of a troll than a contributer lately. I think it's time for a little self reflection.;)
  4. Maybe that's what I need.;) I've always wanted to be good at jump shooting deer. Normaly I am stuck in the mindset of waiting for a better shot . It rarely comes, and I rarely shoot. I have on occasion and have been successful, just not comfortable with it yet
  5. I can see how this is OK in the snow , as long as it doesn't carry through the snowless part of the season. ( you wouldn't be tracking then anyways) . Imo. There are not many who should be taking these shots.
  6. Learn to to do it by hand or with a guide if you must. A well hand sharpened chain will outperform and outlast any done on a machine. Of course , I'm biased. That's how I was taught and have sharpened 100s over years .lol
  7. Yeah. I'm still having a hard time switching back to a traditional broadhead. Even though I'm pretty sure that's all that's going to be in my quiver this year . For years my pros and cons list seemed to always favor a mechanical. Imo . A larger hole will help in the case of a poor shot in the guts. I tended to screw up in that direction. Well, the last few years I seem to be erring closer to the bone when the shot is not perfect (advantage quality trading broadhead). Yes, I know , with a good shot it doesn't matter. I can shoot the $%%t out of a target, but I'm far from perfect on deer. Hence my excellent tracking skills.lol
  8. I put them of 1/2 my arrows with rage hypodermics(my normal heads) on the the other 1/2. I was impressed. They poked a surprisingly large hole in the 8 point I shot. And I took a shot through some honeysuckle twigs that were fairly tight to the deer. A shot I wouldnt have taken with the rage.
  9. X2.. I no longer see the point. Even though the new variant is not near as dangerous. I got my shots before because statistically it seemed like the right move. I don't think that holds true any longer. Especially if you don't trust those in control at the moment . Rather than possibly admitting any mistakes, those in control are just doubling down instead letting it go.
  10. Yes. Imo. I used grim reapers for years shooting a 70# with a fairly quick bow.. I cannot fault their toughness or effectiveness, but I didn't get a pass through as often as I would have liked.
  11. It seemed like everybody in the neighborhood had a beagle when I was a kid. Hunting rabbits was a blast. We had tons of woods that had cedar brush piles everywhere, so we had a great rabbit population.. If we didn't have dogs we would take turns jumping on the brush piles to flush the rabbits..

    Ice time?

That's awesome! I was just talking to a friend today that said they were catching some huge perch on Goose bay.
  13. So true. I've seen banks that I would have bet my paycheck a deer couldn't climb and then proceeded to see deer go up and down them daily. I hunted a spot in the Adirondacks that had at least 100+yds of open water they had to swim most of and a few 100 more yds of cattails that the deer would cross daily. Rivers are the same, even the tail races below dams ..lol
  14. Nice! Looks like there may be a nice buck or 2 to shoot next year. I actually love hunting in wet areas/swamps. Let's me close my eyes and hear them coming. I've been woken up many times by the splashing of deer feet. Who knows how many passed 1st..lol
  15. Also, much of the preliminary info on the omicronvariant shows it being no more or even less deadly than the normal flue. The death rate is not following the infection rate as was happening before.
  16. Man that sucks!. I know buckets are hard to come by too. I will check around see if there is any the local amish havn't claimed yet. Do you care if they are the aluminum ones or are you wanting to stick to the galvanized,
  17. That is what you told me when I caught you in my goat pasture. I'm a little concerned now that you are treating sheep the same way. No wonder a doe won't walk in front of you.;)
  18. Well said. Agree with your sentiments 100%. Occasionally , even people we have respect for say foolish things(in our minds, anyways).lol Hug and move on!
  19. Yes, they are pretty abrasive. I'm not sure about those people who deliberately stick their bare hands in holes to catch them.
  20. Yes sir. I think I've only caught channel cats . Our favored spots are usually good for a few in the 30-36" range on a decent day/night of fishing. I'm not sure on weight, I've never weighed a fish.
  21. I really like catching catfish. There is no timi g the bite like bullhead or some other fish. When the pole warps over or starts heading for the water . Grab it, set the hook and start reeling. . Then the big one get in close and just leave again..zzzzz
  22. Yikes!! How bout most of you guys make a new year's resolution to STFU on some of these useless threads.
