  1. I understand your logic.Personally I disagree..we all have our opinions. I remember a day when I first started hunting . I wandered around for a mile or so into a large piece of State land. Found the perfect spot. After sitting there for a moment I noticed a treestand 30' over my head. So i climbed up.. I wasn't sitting for more than 20 minutes and an older gentleman came along. Turned out it was his stand. He was nice enough but was pretty clear in his explanation of how much work and time it took to set it up.. I felt like a lazy slob...needless to say I have changed my views since then.
  2. This seems like odd logic..if followed, I could sit in or on your auto parked in a public place? Ok, as long as I pick up after myself..
  3. Good for you..Tasks like that really brings out my short attention span...lol...Do you need my address ,so you know where to send the cookies?
  4. Sounds like you had fun...and made it back in one piece ...
  5. That sounds like a great trip!! That is one fuzzy cat..
  6. I have skied for to 30 years. It is one of those sports that the better you get the more fun you can have... the most important thing I told my kid when she started, was how to fall.. If you get going out of control sit down on your side ,Not on your backside!. Contrary to what your mind tells you, reach down the hill.Stay balanced. A person has the tendency to lean back when they get nervous. This makes it difficult to turn and causes you to pick up speed and more times than not leads to a yard sale...lol..Most importantly have fun , it doesn't hurt much when you fall..Even though, I find that I hit the ground a lot harder now than I did..lol
  7. I have also come to put more stock in the moon phase . Not 100% sold but getting closer .
  8. I have always had the idea that the deer in my immediate area are safe from most of the hazards of winter. There are hundreds of acres of woods/ thickets/cedar groves etc(where the visibility is 10-20yds).. and very little mature woods. With plenty of farmland the deer enter the winter fat and healthy. During the harshest of ours winter they can hold up in the brush and have all the browse they can eat..20 miles south is a totally different picture though.. Mature hardwoods and very little farmland makes it tough on the deer and turkeys..I think our Turkey's are going to take a hit after this crust we have on our snow(I can walk all over on it)
  9. 2' is a lot of snow! We only received 1-2" overnight. It is still 12 below though, yesterday reached a high of -8.
  10. The part of the border patrol that we see at "work" up here.. People in far up/ off places deciding to patrol our borders to make us safer... Imo, an illusion.. All done so we the "sheep" think we are being protected...Baaa..We would be better off burning the millions. The land/water border between us and Canada is so porous it's not even funny...They cannot even stop the dozens if not 100s of illegals we have working our local farms now...
  11. II find humor a good way of dealing with many things that annoy me.....Doc.. A smile or a laugh has saved me from more than one fight . On a serious note , I dislike the drone program and the more than 20 new cameras mounted to our traffic lights up here in our little town in Bf Egypt..and the random traffic stops and the border patrol sitting around everywhere you look and.....
  12. I am a lot more careful in my shot selection nowadays. I shoot maybe a box of shells a year. In the past I shot hundreds of rounds a year and considered myself a pretty good shot.. this allowed me to take some of the more difficult shots... After 15 years of hunting I can still count the missed deer with a firearm on one hand. I think anyways..I may be getting closer ,or on 2 hands now.. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
  13. Probably not . I would not have tried to stop him. I would have taken the shot a little sooner before the deer turned away. I do not know where these guys find the bucks that will stop in front of them. Never seems to work for me..Most of the bucks I have tried to stop either ignored me or turned on the afterburners.
  14. I do not know how I have missed this thread. Good job on the coyotes!!! When do you sleep?
  15. I sun bathe in the nude .. After years of this , there is a now fly zone over my place..lol
  16. After an evening hunt in the rain, I was a couple miles from the rd. By the time i packed everything up it was getting pretty dark, so I started hoofing it out. Of course I had forgotten my flashlight so all I had was my cell phone.. I was moving right along up this narrow ridge not much wider than 20 yds ,dropping steeply into ravines on both sides. All of a sudden there was a loud woof!! sound right in front of me , maybe 30-40 feet. I stopped in my tracks trying to see what it was . I was sure it was a bear. Wishing I had my shotgun not muzzleloader. As I am shining my cell phone light at the spot trying to see it, I can hear it stomping around and thrashing the ground. Then it made a groan/growl and I saw a flash of white. Sounded exactly like the "death moan or growl " I have heard a few deer make just before expiring. After a few minutes/seconds I decided it was definitely a deer, I took a few steps forward and what ever it was took off the direction I had to walk to get out of there. I actually was not scared/nervous anymore. I walked over to the spot where it was expecting to find blood.. Nothing just some scuffed up ground. Now I was scared again ..lol maybe it was a bear??? Seemed like a long walk out of the woods...
  17. I hate to say it, but I would rather shiver than deal with bugs..lol
  18. Is this a fact or rumor? I have not read any info on this yet.
  19. A few pictures of my yard from this morning.. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
  20. I didn't know any hillbillies live in Ogdensburg...lol
  21. Yes, not a good thing with the ice hanging on. We have lucked out and not lost power yet. After they removed the travel ban today I made a trip to Watertown to finish up my Christmas shopping. On the way home there were lines down and workers repairing a broken pole ,and downed lines in 3 spots that were ok on the way there.
  22. Power grid seems to be holding up pretty well so far..there is a lot of ice out there. When I went to bed last night ,I didn't expect power to stay on. Suprisingly still on... lol .
  23. A few jackets,sock, underwear ,pants, t shirts,dress, pajamas,shorts.......oh wait did I say dress.. That's on my girlfriend's side...lol
