  1. Sounds like fun! I was an avid walleye fisherman for years and at times during early season we would catch more musky than walleye(of course they weren't in season yet). Nothing like a 40" fish jumping out of the water !!
  2. Holy smokes!! Was he on huntable land?
  3. It says something about our country that it is still legal to do this in much of it. Try walking into a store in most of the rest of the worlds "civilized" countries and see what happens. Actions like this just make it that much sooner that we have laws that specifically ban these actions. Listening to the radio,A Target rep. stated that people open carrying where not banned , but where asked to comply with their request.
  4. I love my 300 on deer. As long as you keep the shot behind the shoulder in the lungs, blood shot meat isn't an issue. I shoot 150 gr bullets and they never exit the other side(100%) energy transfer. Advantages to a nice pass through are easier tracking jobs, disadvantages are you have to track. No wasted energy traveling through the woods or into the ground.. Having shot many whitetail with this set-up , it is rare that the deer takes one step. And if you have poor follow through on a moving target and occasionally hit one in the guts they are still dead in less than 50 yds. Personally having screwed up a few shots , I have never not been able to see my deer die within a few yards of where I shot it. This has held true for me at yardages ranging from 10-280. This is why I switched from my old favorite 308. That gun performed flawlessly until I pushed its range close to 300 yds.
  5. I have a set of the single bevel. Check out Doctor Ashby's research on single bevel bhs.. I haven't shot an animal yet .

  7. Looks like all the hard work is paying off! Be careful of those wheelies, many a farmer has been killed by an overturned tractor.. Not so common in today's age of huge tractors but was in the past.

I will be at my camp at a small local lake. Cannot hardly keep them off the hook crappie fishing, I do not expect to have that good of luck when the season actually arrives .. I cannot wait to try though..
  9. On topic, I am a 300 win mag fan. If you do not like the recoil one coul always load down to 30-06 levels or less.
  10. I am not sure I have enough arrows to hit a milk jug at 100 yds..lol
  11. I bet I can out penetrate a 30 06 with my bow ..Shooting at a gallon jug full of sand.. Watched the video, thought it was cool, tried it myself ..lol
  12. I found something we can agree on ..
  13. Like my friend said before he left for Alaska.. ."Don't be afraid of going out on a limb, that's where all the bananas are" That was over 10 years ago, an he's still there.
  14. Family and Education(not necessarily institutional) is the answer. imho . Everything else is just a "feel good" measure. Makes many think we are addressing the issues.
  15. I am envious of your food plots M M. Great work!
  16. Sure.. But I am always quick to point out northern NY not the city ..lol Many think NY city is NY.
  17. Lmao....Nice! You been spying on me? Seems to me , like you are playing a game. Trying to recruit members for your underground group..
  18. So, what is the point of the countless threads about the government overstepping its bounds that you have started ? Pap?
  19. Congrats on the bird. Great story!
  20. Many differing opinions on this, but these are my experiences. I am shooting a 380grain arrow roughly 300fps... I switched to mechanicals a few years ago and shot grim reapers both the 1 3/8" and 2". Tough and reliable head but penetration suffered due to them being not sharp enough. Tried the 2.3" rage extremes c.o.c. last year and watched all 3 deer die within sight. Complete pass through on 2 and the third 1 stopped just short of poking out the other side after blasting through the 1st shoulder blade... Definitely going to try them again this year. 1 of the heads I 're -sharpened,1 I replaced blades, and 1 was junk( hit a stone in the dirt after going through deer.
  21. Yes sir, I have a couple... Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
  22. I am not sure if other parts of the state are the same, but you would have a hard time traveling a mile without seeing anti safeact signs in yards..
  23. Very cool!! It is getting to be that time of year again. Soon I will have my doe and her fawns hanging in my yard again..lol.. She is there every spring for a month or so and then goes away until next spring..
  24. Very true.. I am betting 90%. + of bow hunters are gun hunters as well. I personally do not know a single person that bow hunts only..
