  1. Lol..Sounds like a fun hunt. That is what its all about.
  2. Yes , the new short vanes are less forgiving . Less surface area therefore less ability to stabilize arrow flight.
  3. So true.. We also need to get the money out of politics.. Big business and wealthy individuals don't give money ,millions upon millions, on the off chance that the politician is going to do what they want them to do. They are successful for a reason.. politicians bought and sold...simple. Find a past pol that is not a multi millionaire. It would be an extremely rare find. Money from jobs or gigs from their sponsers not government salary after their "service".That's pretty good pay for someone with no real world skills , besides playing the system..
  4. When I hunt in Letchworth I see at least a dozen + stands.Heck there is one bottom that is 100 yds wide x 3-400 long that has 5 stand in it( counting mine when I get there).....I usualy hunt this spot3-5 days and have never seen them used. I have never seen a soul in 90+% of them. When bowhunting I won't set up right on top of them but I will still hunt the same general area..if they happen to show up , I will move on to another area next time. I hate it when someone come in and sets within a100 yds of me when there is 1000s of acres to hunt.. If I avoided every area with a stand ,all the good spots would be taken..lol
  5. Custom strings...0 peep twist...at least in my experience over the years( nock on wood)..lol
  6. That's neat! Perfect decoy, now where is the doe?
  7. I think both sides are idiots(with very few exceptions). But for the record..If I already own my home, paper work signed etc.. and you stand in my doorway and demand negotiations for me to enter, I more than likely am going to beat your @#$ and enter. They (pols) rule the masses with sound bites that sound good or rings true in our minds , never mind the facts.
  8. That is great info.. When we were young we did a little test to settle this debate among our group. My friend shot an arrow at a target while i stood behind him with my back to him. At the sound of the shot I would drop. I came close to hitting the ground before the arrow hit the target. This was years ago, of course, so I was faster and the bow was slower. There is no doubt that a deer, esp an alert deer, can move a long way at the sound of the shot.
  9. In NY state I would contact Matt at www.wildehillarchery.com Highly recommend. He will steer you the right direction. Personally I would not go with any of the big name string makers, they all seem to stretch, to many custom builders out there that build top shelf string sets, For a similar price. Breathn,Strict 9, 60X, to name a few.
  10. Yeap .. A lot of booming up here for awhile..lol
  11. That's great!! Nice buck.. as a long time swamp hunter, I love the sound of a deer sloshing through the water...lol
  12. Good luck!!.This is on my to do list. They have to be loaded with moose up there. I just looked at pictures today of a friend of mine's trip north. 8 of them went up and they came back with 7 moose.
  13. Congrats..getting permission to hunt is difficult to do at times..
  14. Those are some great bucks, and obviously a good spot to hunt. Good luck on closing the deal..Arrow FreakNasty for me would ya? Good luck!!
  15. That an awesome buck..I'm excited for you..lol..
  16. As for the toughness of deer..they are amazingly resilient. I am still a believer, that if you puncture their body cavity pretty much anywhere ..it is a death sentence. If it is quick and humane or drawn out over months of sickness depends on where they are hit. A "meat" hit can heal..I have seen a 9 point with a broadhead buried in his hip /spine that had calcified around it. I think ...all to often hunters will comfort themselves with the thought that the deer will survive, while in fact the deer is going to die..Early in my archery experience I hung up my bow after a lost deer ,disgusted ..The itch would always overcome my shame though and I would be back out there within a week..Mistakes do happen, we just need to do our best to avoid them...
  17. If there is a pole roadside. Underground...It is your responsibility to run the cable to the pole leaving enough extra for them to connect to the tranformer at top of pole... Overhead....they usually will run from the pole to your mast..as long as its within a certain distance( I forget the distance) Either way it is your responsibility to install the entrance panel/meter channel, mast(if doing overhead)and get it all inspected by an electrical inspector before they will hook to it. $2000. Would easily cover material costs more like a 1000. Going overhead is usually the cheaper route. Things start getting expensive if you have to rent and or hire equipment to start digging ditches of any length..or if the power company has to set more poles. Call the power company to come and do a site inspection or to spot the meter.
  18. Probable .... Beginner's assumption that the deer was dead.. Deer are way tougher than people give them credit for..
  19. Who is your dealer ? We do not have any dealers up here.
  20. Yes.,yes, and yes. Lol My best trick, esp on unfamiliear properties is hunting corner, esp. During the rut. Just off the corners of fields, thickets, swamps, etc seem always to funnel deer. Deer are edge animals..
  21. Sucks that you missed ,but I would take a clean miss anyway over a wounded deer..One of the best bow hunters I know emptied his quiver(5 arrows) on a buck once at 20 yds.. Buck fever!!! Lol. Shake it off ,grin ,have fun and do it right next time. Hell, I can kill a coffee cup just about every time out past 40 yds.. but my record on actual deer isn't near so good.
