  1. you are not supose to leave anything in state land or remove anything..i saw some people get fined for taking rocks out of the creek.
  2. well thats different...looks like it was hollow..not a good tree to have a stand in to begin with... but i am guessing a squirrel hunter was sitting in it having a smoke and put the butt into the hollow, dry as tinder in there and tree went up.....
  3. Couldn't shoot they were in a group but these 2year old cubs were a lot of fun to watch at 30 yards...
  4. 1st do you have room for a full mount? figure base 32in x5ft head may or may not hang over. standing bear is just unnatural to me. a big rug from a big bear is a whole wall if hung. i'm guessing your bear is 5ft nose to tail..
  5. I have a similar plan of just selling or trading hide of next bear to taxidermist for cash or other work
  6. 1/2 mount or rug..250-300 is an average bear in nys... bigger in size then full... rugs are easier for resale by far if it ever came to it.
  7. found a dead newborn this week (covered in flies n maggots) still had after birth on its feet.. maybe a week old at most... doe must of been bred in march/april..
  8. i have done logging roads and log landings. clover/turnips they are effective if you can get enought light to them.. cuttin limbs and trees on southern edge to allow maximum light is big help. roads are usually devoid of topsoil , i was fortunate enough to have piles of it along the road and i put 2 in back in areas i wanted to plant. this is a log landing in turnip and clover, fert with 10-10-10 2x

  10. nope, bachlor groups just breaking up..
  11. looks like 2 diff bucks.. i have used trail cams now for 20 years (i started with the old trail timers that had a plunger that pushed the camera button on a 35mm) and i get more enjoyment out of them then hunting 90% of the time.
  12. they sell a resin mix to fix tanks , i've used it to fix a few tractor gas tanks, works best if dry. drive it till gas below hole then apply.. it sets fast 2-3 min so you want all prep work done before mixing it.
  13. they are usually picked when whole plant brown and moisture content of bean at certain level and taken right to inch or so of ground. modern harvesting doesnt leave much in the field for waste unless spilled when transfering to wagon/truck (and then you need to worry about getting hit for hunting a baited field if it spills in a pile) i would guess in the next two weeks harvesting will start
  14. the ground was tore up , looked like a rototiller. there are 9 other sparing matches involving 13 different bucks on that cam as well, this wasnt a sparing match over 160 photos of bucks shoving each other around.. i usually get 3-4 fights on cam in that spot every year.. this was the longest by far.

    Frost

no frost yet and dont want any till mid october, though thursday looks sketchy
  16. 44 pics over 22 minutes and i'm still not sure who won........
  17. i forget the proper name , but is just a skin fibroma, usually freezes off.
  18. your better off changing limbs to max out at poundage you want to shoot than turn down a bow. much more effecient and quieter that way. i've shot 52lbs my whole life for whitetail no need for more. just leads to shoulder problems. my arrrow does complete pass throughs all the time.. elk i shoot 70 on a different bow... lot tougher animal
  19. these are potted 3 and 5 gallon trees.. i have had better luck with fall rather than spring plantings as late frosts do much more harm as tress are leaved out in spring when delivered.
  20. there are a limitednumber of dunstan chestnuts available at resch's hardware in cuba ny, call and see what is left the go quick, they are also atarting a list for trees for spring planting.
  21. rebuilt several stands and built a 67 ft long bridge to get access to the east end of the property. not to mention 5 acres of corn, 3 acres of turnip, 2 acre of clover, and an acre of winter rye.
  22. perhaps instead of a county exec1s or govenor name on a sign, a simple one paid for in part by hunters should be placed to raise awareness
  23. it goes past that for me, my snowmobile club builds and maintain bridges and trail thru several , non hunting properties , only to hear the cyclists and runners / x country skiers complain about why do they allow the stinky snowmobiles in here anyways messing up out trails. the general public does not know why trails/parksystems multiple use areas are maintained. though you are right making enemys is not a good thing, though i felt the artice was very valid. its time hunters as a group are given some credit for the wildlife and programs all enjoy, rather than being outcasts despised because they kill
  24. the attack is great, as was the expert, capture new quality ok, issues with reconditioned. 300 model still works good for me as well. they will repair or give you 100$ credit toward new model.
