  1. So think on this , if prions are in grain, what the heck are you gonna feed all them fenced in deer..do you have a prion free food source? If so I'm sure that would be used for human consumption first..so what happens to the fenced in deer nutrition? Prions are undetectable so I can't imagine individual farmers testing let alone wildlife farmers... cwd has been around since the 60's we didn't call it that back then like we didn't call cold snaps polar vortexes either. The wild herd survives so your point is unfounded..
  2. Practice shooting whatever your going to hunt with, scout in areas your not going to hunt so you learn what to look for,so when you scout the area you want to hunt you scout smart. Spend time in the woods watching/listening.
  3. i have several cuddies that are very old..almost 10 years and use compact flash cards. i have found that sticking with the same brand of battery is most critical... seems if i buy the ones on sale they cause problems.. cuddies use to come with a warning not to use energizer. slight differences in legnth, output or construction seem to be the colpret. i have tried wildgame, and they died in a year. i am now trying some new stelthcams ( got them for free) so far they take great daylight, but ir night photos have no range. i am impressed with moultrie professional series (dec uses them in their fisher studies) good sharp pics day and night with ir. for my money i'll stick with cuddies the new models are quite affordable and 99% of the time i dont need all the bells and whistles of video, timelapse, panoramic, timed field shots, ect..... i just want a camera to take pictures and fast reset to take another one...
  4. i have a aimpoint on my mossberg 835 for turkey, and an reddot on my browning bps for deer.. i suggest getting one with the smallest dot and variable light intensity. best thing is no parralax so my nephew/friends can pick it up and use it ..where the dot is is where the bullet goes....
  5. if baiting were legal i would continue to food plot as i plant nutrition plots in much greater quantity than kill plots 1/2 acre or less. they are not like baiting unless you spread your bait over 3-5 acres with multiple access points..... to me bait costs money..my plots cost time and gas. i can get seed for free or at greatly reduced price. as for bear i have hunted over bait in canada and being as home ranges are 10 sq miles or more i see the benifit and would support a spring bear hunt with additional fees/permit to bait. they are really becoming a problem and the bump into one while deer hunting isnt going to keep the population from growing. they are becoming more of a problem here for sure.
  6. not interested in baiting for deer i enjoy my food plotting, but would love to see a spring bear with bait become legal
  7. i've built elevated blinds on 4x4 and in trees... if your putting sides and roof on it. min 5.5ft for bow hunting 7ft for hight...bigger (wider) if you plan to hunt with other person.. make your windows fold in up down or sideways.. a slide can and will fill with frost making it unuseable.
  8. http://www.ozoneapplications.com/products/Residential/q&a_ozone.htm ozone does work but can you keep it on you in a tree with wind? not effective as it seems i think.. in a ground blind sure.. open air with currents..i'm not convinced...
  9. several .22 for squirrels , 12 ga stoger for phesant, 12 ga, mossberg 835 for turkey, matthews mq32 or drenalin for bow, 45-70 gov, marlin guide gun , and 12 ga browning bps for deer
  10. i'm not positive but think an instructor has to have 3 years using the weapon to teach it.. just legal for 3rd year this year.. so how do you get around this ...make it a certficate and sell it as a muzzleloader licence.....
  11. a little info for those that frequent the park, http://m.thedailynewsonline.com/mobile/news/article_422a2034-2e67-11e4-967a-001a4bcf887a.html
  12. I know people very successfull on public, and others not so successful on private... a lot has to do with scouting and time afield, plus skill . But you can get one unless you get out and try
  13. Gross low 140's end up high 130's.. narrow, aren't long ,avg tine llength. Velvet makes mass look bigger than it is...
  14. I've had them clean out a small field of turnip before the first fros.
  15. That's a good thing makes hunting a lot easier.. deer on their feet looking for food, and if you put your time in and find a few loaded trees you'll tag out quick... bad for deer if its a long cold winter..but a lot better for us as hunters
  16. best foresters i've used/seen www.futureforestinc.com out of naples ny but cover all western and central ny. i and several of my friends/neighbors use them. met them at landowner workshop and turkey federation workshop almost 20 years ago now.
