  1. i would say their pattern changed, my neighbor to the south of me has bucks in velvet from may till mid july, then they move 3/4 of a mile to my property for end of july august sept oct...then they really scatter and can be found on both properties as well as new random bucks making appearances
  2. i know a few good hunters who take tremendous bucks every year, but you never hear about it, they butcher them themselves, dont mount them(racks stay out in a bushel basket in the barn) not everyone cheats but some just keep to themselves but if you saw the racks in a basket you would swear they poach them.... cant judge people on hear say. but if you see or have credable evidence report them!!!
  3. well the smell might work...didnt say camp might not be there when you get back.... and that smell would linger, burned some in a pan in the house..swear it was a month before the oder was gone..or maybe i got use to it.....lmao
  4. i'm sure they know the corn and other food is there.. just set it up out side the cabin on a grill and forget about it while you go hunt downwind a few hundred yards... when season is open
  5. 3.5 years old if it was by me, gross low 130's, net mid 120's. it would be 130 solid if a 10 pt... 8's take a lot of mass and tine legnth to make that, for example if it were a 10, with 3 inch g4's thats 6 extra inches to score...
  6. 1st day is orange army alot of places, but 2nd 3 rd 4th can be very productive. i hunt without a dog and can usually scare one or two up. for a week after the release

    Blinds??

the bigger the better.. not a fan of cheaper blinds..the saying is you get what you pay for, is never more true than with blinds.. 5.5x5.5 ft or 6x6 is even better, or you'll find yourself putting your arrow out the window to draw.
  8. i would continue the drive up by a friend, but vary the times,, you may have to wait an extra hour after dark, not starting a sunset debate but its quite a while before its dark. you may run into legalities if a gamewarden sees you in a stand after sunset....even if your waiting for a ride
  9. seems leaves really took a jump last 2 days , should be approximatly 1/3 changed by this weekend with peak around 1st weekend in october... watch out for the "sunday drivers" looking at the foliage..
  10. i have 1 spike still in velvet as of sept 22nd.. and 13 different sparing matches on same camera now...
  11. no the youth licence is based on age when bought when licence year starts(oct 1), good for entire year, he lucked out his b day is later than oct 1in that he saved a few bucks is all. use to really hurt when applying for doe tags (oct 1 deadline) but lowering of hunting age helped that.. i couldnt get/apply for doe tag till i was 17 as my birthday falls in early nov as well.
  12. my resident bucks are still in summer patterns, i usually get bucks end of september that are being dispursed by older/or more agressive resident bucks,or yearlings kicked out by mom . I have seen a lot more buck after really knocking doe numbers down and am as close to a 2or 3 to one ratio now.. to maintain that ratio i take 10 doe(not anterless but doe) a year. i think greater competition for a doe causes bucks to really move while searching.
  13. tags are vaild during al lregular season as min age is 14. he just gets the benifit of a 3 day weekend to take 1 deer during october
  14. has to be a good buck with bow, save my doe tags for late muzzloader.
  15. i agree with 3.5 year old.. gross 120.. lot of deductions side to side
  16. i'm in 9w and have had them for approximatly 5 years now..been part of dec's fisher study last 2 years.. told they are coming back again this feb. to set up their cam trap again
  17. bear a 200-300 lb er.... approximatly 100 lbs per in of width of pad pad is 2.5 to 3 in...
  18. i never sit all day... i do just fine with a 2 hr morning and evening hunt
  19. all i can find is regs for storage of personal equipment, treestands have to have name /address/phone,ect section 190 general regulation on using state land... perhaps the officer interprets a trail cam as personal equipment??
  20. it may be someone has/had pot growing nearby.. and it was taken to see if had evidence orif the grower would show up and ask for it... a faster responce to get it would prolly be benifical to your case...but as a trooper friend told me he has a book with him about 1/2 in thick but if your a jerk there is a 3 in thick book back at the office he can find more to charge you with... unfortunatly i think regs and rules for hunting are the same....
  21. that being said i would go get the cam and ask.. i dont see it in regulations book i have, maybe you'll get a pass ....
