Paula I can now win any climb the rope bridge games at any fair,or theme park.. it will eventually have handrails... it sways a little but just need to get across it, can get there from the west but why drive thru a mile plus of woods and scare everything out? I don't mind driving for retrevial but a 1.5 Mile walk in is unnessaray if i cross the creek its 200 yard walk.

Well my property runs east west and with predominantly west winds have made entering from the east mandatory, problem is a good size creek that hampers access during the season when it rains and for a few days after.. so building a bridge.. 52 foot across creek and 67 ft overall..its about 1/2 done, tightening and hand railings and stabilization still need to be done.. but looking good so far after 3 weekends of work anyone else do something this crazy just to get to deer?

anyone own a kioti or mahindra tractor?
G-Man replied to SplitG2's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Nope I own the top of a hill and heavy clay/shale soil... the kioti out preforms every tractor I've looked at, my neighbor borrowed mine and traded in a 55HP mahindra for a 45HP kioti and does more with it than he ever did with the mahindra. I will say I do have draft control on mine and its a big help, as well as positioning the top link correctly for plowing/ground work. I have a 2006 .dk35 se. With the backhoe attachment and tires are loaded. Oh and get a geared tractor... hydrostatic is for mowing lawns.... you lose 5-'10HP with hydro -
I have an api baby grand climber..when I use it its great, but have gone to stick n hangon stand 99.9% of the time. Its tough to find a straight tree where the stand needs to be imo.I'd rather be in a crooked tree in the right spot to get a deer than a straight tree to see a deer that I only might get a shot at. Look into an aluminum set of rapid rails and a good aluninum Hang on stand, they will let you get in the right spot right tree every time.

10-15HP per bottom..your 28 should pull a. 12in-14in 2Bottom no problem.. can buy used for 100 a bottom pretty regular. or buy a 3bottom and remove one. A tiller in the ground hear is only asking fro broken tines/shear pins Clay and shale here in alleagany/Catt county.

i pull a 16in 3 bottom mulboard plow and a 8' disk. -
Its mostly property based.. a 30 acre piece can be ruined by constant still hunting, better off with a blind and sit and wait.. 200-10,000 acres walk up on one.. although 200 acres with 20 guys on it is not going to be a walkable property. So i guess it depends on size/shape, and hunting pressure for which method i use.

I wouldn't sweat it.. 8 cams year round..bucksdisappear after may..show up end of august. My neighbor about a mile down the road has them all summer but leave his place and head to mine end of august. Its about food and habitat..bucks are growing horns and will have different needs than does while doing so. Once their horns start to harden they require different food to put on weight. Happens to me every year, finally got my neighbor to understand that itsdoesn't help to get excited in July over a few pics as bucks seem to have different seasonal needs and unless you have the (fall/winter needs) youwon't see good bucks as they seem to take over the best spots. (See my pic in my hope iI get a shot at post in trail cams section)

If your deer per acre isn't to high, they can and do work.especially in conjunction with larger nutrition plots

Kioti has a much higher lift capacity, and weighs more than mahindra. 2 Big things when looking for a tractor (unless you want a glorified lawn mower. My friend has a 50 hp Kubota, my 38HP kioti hp. Lifts almost 1000 more Check gal /per/min on pump , and weigh ,front and rear lift, capacity. You'll end up buying a kioti for sure. -
Dealt with driller, and he did all the work... middlemen are problems

had on old timer when i was just starting hunting rub bannana and limburger cheese on a tree in the yard at camp,(not season) deer come right up and licked it all off did the same with cigarette butts on the ground(unfiltered back then) and deer would eat them right up.. i think they are very curious and pee is pee. i used the idea from his examples and spray apple cider in the air and deer will come with their nose up in the air right to the tree ...and if you get thirsty..you have apple cider with you for a nice quick drink

my trophy room ...well most of it...gettting crowded.. some horns still not up on wall.

there are many different sizes of lighted nocks make sure you buy the right ones. not sure about your collar issue

Unless knocked down by wind most nuts dropping now are bug or blight infested or non viable.. apples drop the same way. if you put the falling nuts in water they will float..if they are viable healthy nuts they sink. plus the deer wont eat them unless really hurting for food. good nuts are still on the trees and will drop when mature.

as long as the noise doesnt bother you and you do not shoot across them they can be very productive places to hunt, as the deer near them are usually left alone as most hunters advoid the area, same reason big bucks lay right behind a farmers barn or near the dog house...the noise doesnt bother them amd the hunters avoid those areas as too close to the house/animals... deer are quick learners and find that safe spot and will use it time and time again
