  1. I had one guy showing 1 in groups at 50 in 6 times shooting.. it's not hard unless your talking recurve or long bow.. today compounds are easy , releases, lighted pins, range finding sights, peeps...
  2. The kill rate of compounds and crossbows are the same as is the loss / non recovery. I had 2 new bow hunters this year both killed deer with minimal practice one shot maybe 4 dozen arrows the other maybe 12.. .. modern compounds once peep and pins are set are pretty easy..
  3. Had some here last week, they look ragged. Glad we had thaw. Wildlife needed it
  4. Birds here were looking very ragged, hard moved from trees in weeks , snow depth and extreme cold. Thankfully we had a big thaw that opened some fields , and another thaw next 2 days should let them be able to get to food.. hardest winter here in years.
  5. More bbs in a long shot string is perfect for turkey. 100s of more bbs to fill in the holes. But your pattern looks a little right . You should try it at closer range , a good optic on it will really hope zero in you center of pattern .. I've killed bird and porkupine out past 65 yards with mine but at 20 it's basically shooting a 2 in wide slug
  6. Looks like round worm my one bear was full of them almost a couple of feet long.. was disgusting.
  7. Yes used it last year in their request for coyote guts in a research study. In Eastern wmus

  9. I would disagree I can show you many properties posted on road frontage and nothing back in the woods. If they entered from state land they wouldn't see a sign again a 4 mile walk in along a river they said .. idk they seemed to have a GPS and knew a falls was there so they followed it.
  10. If you need to know definition of legal navigatable . It's long and complicated.. for the original post I don't think the kids knew they were trespassing as signs were most likely lacking
  11. That's not what that says they own the bank and in certain areas dec gets 33 ft access to shoreline for public fishing. Navigatable water is public if your in the water your legal.
  12. Well before the confrontation and when they 1st saw anglers, they siad they walked up 4 miles of river. Chances are the property is not properly posted to see signs from the river if any of the sides or back of the property is posted at all.. indeed he may own the shore line but I didn't think he proved they went by any posted signs. I have kayakers come up the creek thru my property and go back , I do have signs that face the creek and especially at farm equipment crossings.. if River or creek is paddleable then it's public in ny
  13. Should be running on and off for this week. Early sap is supposed to be the best...
  14. Coon raiding nests and lack of good nesting habitat is a huge factor along with bad spring weather. I alway set traps for a week or two for coon . Removing them truly helps, I don't have a large coyote population so that's a small factor.. coon..way to many friend caught 43 in a week here few years ago
  15. Just so no one feels left out...
  16. Simple plot would be spray with gly, rake ( drag) or burn surface trash when dead. Broadcast buckwheat , come June/ July broadcast clover (can add winter rye/ wheat in sept / october....) roll buckwheat down over top of it.( can use lawn roller or make a 3dt wide board with a rope and simply lay it on and step on it to crush buckwheat. The buckwheat suppresses weeds all spring and ealry summer them provided cover and moisture retention for other sèed . .
  17. I've logged my.place 4x since 1993 your habitat has changed, the forests of the 90s are way more mature and open if habitat isn't worked on there, grass nesting and bugging fields are either now brush or someone's manicured food plot. So add to the marginal habitat ( especially nesting and bugging) and all the other factors you have listed have even a larger effect
  18. 100% with you on having to have photos from 3.5 to older , if not just a guess unless you have tooth cementum analysis done.. and can only do that when dead..
  19. That would probably be thrown out as entrapment, large mechanical deer whit huge racks are not used for that very reason, sad but it's what our law system has degraded to.
  20. Had an amish gentleman stealing the " shorts" off a pile of firewood. Came.home one day to see wagon wheel marks going up the back way to my house, went by the pile where it seemed shorter than day I left , called the neighbor I was give the pile of short to to ask if he took some ( as he usually took the pile on weekends) he told me no he hadn't. So I set up the next am back inthe brush with my shot gun ant at 630 am.here come a amish with a wagon wh o drive in and n proceded to fill the back of the wagon. .. I jump out asked what the h ell he was doing a d he told me the owner siad he could take them, I'm the owner and I don't think you ever asked. Nor do I think you told you family you were coming up here to steal wood. If I ever see you here again you won't be leaving... he asked what I meant by that , so I siad I have a gun and a backhoe , figure it out!!... never saw him again..
  21. Must be repaid with interest is not true we can do what all other county's do to us and and say sorry not paying you back... Mexico has done this several times..
  22. Tons of public land around the area as well. But imo a little steep . But just posted it someone may want to try it
