why don't we just make a traditional longbow season...seems i remember when compound bows were taboo... just think compound bows were created in the late 60' and 70' popular in the 80's. crossbows have been around since 1000bc...maybe we should embrace the crossbow and ban compounds... come on people what are you afraid of??? you are as bad as locking yourself in your room and screaming like a 2 year old!!!

well they both have triggers so i don't see a firearm during bow a nessary evil..

Thid would effectively allow crossbows to be used by the newly defined disabled in the regular bow season. I feel this should of been in place years ago. yes i know lots of people are against crossbows in the reg bow season, and the law will allow them to be used during regular gun and late season next year. but i am for helping enabling the disabled continue or start to bowhunt. Sorry if this ticks off some newyork bowhunter members( i was a member once and this is the main reason i left,and i heard the argument about drawlocks vs crossbows and if your that afraid of them you need to do some more research!)

winter rye or winter wheat seem to work the best for me, and a good field of standing clover is always pawed thru all winter long, if you have a big enough area corn or sorgum work wonders to small a plot and a failed nut crop means nothing for fall hunting/winter feed.

Anyone beside me starting a new plot this year? Just laid out my site and the tree felling starts after lunch..

Maybe the gov. should just close all the roads and keep people living in populated areas only leaving the rest of the planet for the animals.... this is the problem with the world today its always someone elses fault!...

Well if its from smoke, warm water and dish detergent... some taxidermists ust to shellac them, it might be that turning yellow,ususally from age they bleach out and turn white...yellow you'll probably have to bleach them and have them air brushed to look like the natural staining.

Some will abuse it but think of the ones who can't bowhunt anymore due to injury or amputation, they are left out because nys doesn't think your disabled unless your a quad in a chair and have to use a breath tube. yes there are bad apples but i hate to tell a vet who lost an arm or use of an arm/shoulder he/she can't bow hunt because they aren't a quad..

no pear are the only northern fruit tree native to the americas..

well clearing an area in mature woods create edge which creates browse....they do it with out knowing it ......

What area are you looking in? i have a fairly large tract and would consider it if your in my area.

I hunt grouse without a dog and ran into a problem i would never have expected this year, they wouldn't fly 10-12 birds just running around on the ground like a flock of chickens... didn't seem sporting to shoot them on the ground...tryed running at them and throwing sticks but they would just run one way or another...wierd...

Well apple trees are not native to the U.S. only pear.. so even if you are stalking thru an old apple orchard your hunting a food plot..... lol ;D

only got an inch of new snow from this storm, i hate weathermen, it snows deal with it! Better than a hurricane/flood or tornado, i can move snow!

There are people who will take advantage of anything they can, but overall i feel this is a vast improvement to defining disabled in ny.

Gas/oil rights are important, but don't forget subsurface rights in general, buy a beautiful piece of property with out them and next thing you know you own a open pit gravel mine, everthing 1 ft below the ground you don't own. check all your rights and look for old leans against it(search and survey usually reveal them) might cost you or the seller more depending how your contract is written. around here there use to be a hunting club that leased land for 99 years.. kind of went defunct but the leans existed still, some locals found out reformed the group and hunt these properties,(imagine buying you own place to hunt only to have an orange army come marching thru) well a lot of $ and lawyers later it was squashed but at more expence to the land holders.

Maybe they figured if they went that far in they wouldn't be bothering bow hunters who like to stay close.....

mission bows are the lower end of mathews, when you shoot a bow close your eyes and shoot and arrow?(close range 5 yards or so to a good backstop), you can feel the bow jump or twist in your hand a lot easier.

Shot a 146" 8pt that weighed 205 with head and hide off, was fine dragging it untill adrenaline wore off, first 300yards 1 hr, next 400yrds 3 and a half hrs.. lol

Flies, spray with malathion.. can be found in any greenhouse or nursery , lasts for months can be powder or liquid, can spray your buildings and lawn kills flies dead and keeps them from making it into your house, bee/wasps use sevin. Best luck i have with killing mice bait bars,can't carry them away have to eat on site rather than the granules that can be carried away and stored.

I've seen tom knapp shoot 10 claybirds before they hit the ground , doesn't mean i want to try it or have the skill to do it... same goes for long range shots with bow/ xbow/ rifle...there are exceptions to every rule...

Find them before the other guy... wait to long especially i fields and they will dissapear before you can look yourself, yes the land my be posted but shed hunting is becoming too big a deal and tresspassing may occur more than you think, doesn't take to long to walk an open field and most people's camps are closed the locals know this and also know that they wont get caught as noone is around to report them (trail cams show a lot if you leave em up year round). If they are watching one of your fields and see lots of deer in them..the first snow melt they are there for the picking unfortunatly you are at work or home and the locals grab them quick. I even had one local tell me that the posted signs are for hunting season...
