  4. The 8 was 3.5 yrs but the 12 not sure he did not have the same body as the 8. He was smaller. Think he was 2.5 but had better genes I guess
  5. Yeah the 12 is lighter he is 115. Pics and spread make him appear bigger thanks Moog!
  6. Moog is pretty spot on in his judgement method. Spread, tine length and thickness and points all tally score. I have measured a few and need to do some I haven’t done yet. By measuring a few and harvesting mature bux it becomes a little easier to judge score in the field. In 2006 on opening day afternoon me and a buddy hunted a pinch point about 200 yds apart and he ended up shooting a monster buck when I walked up on it it’s horns were sticking above the corn they had been picked he asked me what it scored I told him mid 160s and he had it officially scored and it scored 164 ....I guess if you around some big bucks you know what they are size wise in the woods pretty quickly the hard part is letting the 130s go so they become 140s to 160s because it can happen in one year just so hard to let them go When you’ve spent hours on the stand I guess it’s all patience and maturing and faith. Keep guessing on the 12
  7. Good guess but Little off on the 12 Close on the 8...132 gross 128 net

  15. Just read about the extended season in Tompkins County did not know about this have to check it out. I have clients in the Ithaca area and deer are like Rats down there everywhere perhaps it’s time to venture down to Tompkins county Deer season is extended downstate and in Tompkins County Over-abundance of deer in those areas ALBANY -- While deer hunting seasons have ended in New York’s northern zone and ending in most of the southern zone, it has been extended in parts of Tompkins County and in all of Westchester and Suffolk counties due to an over-abundance of the animals in those areas. Deer hunting continues with archery equipment in Westchester County through Dec. 31. And from Jan. 9 to Jan. 31, there will be an antlerless deer season in the Deer Management Focus Area in central Tompkins County. Hunters wanting to go there need to register and download a permit, carcass tags, and a hunting activity log from the DMFA webpage. Registered hunters may take up to two antlerless deer per day in the DMFA. In Suffolk County, the regular bowhunting deer season runs through Jan. 31, and a special late firearms season runs from Jan. 3 through 31. Town permits are required in the towns of Southampton, Islip, and Smithtown. For DEC-managed lands, hunters not holding drawing numbers or who missed the reservation sign-up period can claim reservations for any unfilled hunting spots between 10 AM and 2 PM, Dec. 19 - 24, 26 - 31, and between 10 AM and 2 PM on Jan. 4 - 31. Reservations must be made in person. For more information on reservation procedures and to see which DEC-managed lands are available for firearms deer hunting, visit the DEC website at dec.gov/outdoor.
