Lawdwaz
Welcome. Nice deer but that's a bit of a stretch to say possible NYS record. Deer don't know boundaries........
phade
Nice deer and all, but which one is the record challenger? Big difference in rack appearance when in velvet and hard horn...

TheTruth2
That wide buck the pic was taken back in June, he still had two months at least of growing. we got another pic of him out of velvet, which i cant find for some reason? absolute giant. looks like an elk
phade
The pic you can't find might be a different case, but hard to state that any buck is a record challenger in June...too many variable in play.
TheTruth2
Well, agreed. hopefully i can locate that other picture and post, its extremely impressive. Ive hunted this particular buck for two years, not even a sighting.

WNYBuckHunter
Thats a nice wide buck, but nowhere near a state record. The one in my avatar was 11 points last year, and wouldnt come close to the record. Hes bigger this year and I dont think hes a state record this year either. He would make the book, but nowhere near the top.

WNYBuckHunter
where are these guys when your in the stand i swear the big ones evaporate during the season LOL, I hear ya. I had the one in my avatar in my gun sights at less than 100 yards last season, the last weekend of gun. Unfortunately, the last 40 yards or so of distance was across the neighbors property line. Just couldnt bring myself to pull the trigger.

Property lines are a stinker sometimes...fought with that a few years...sometimes it's a real bummer.

Not asking for location but what part of the state are you in, Catskills, West, ADK? You can be general to hide your bucks locations... TheTruth2
haha well ill fess up and say these were all taken from letchworth. ive seen studs taken out of there. yet there are soem days where i see zero. very inconsistant, but when it is hot, its hot. phade
Yeah, Letworth is not much of a secret but it is some tough hunting at times.
TheTruth2
biggest thing there is patterning the deer. a lot of people think u can only kill big ones on the bottom, not true. hunt on cloudy crappy days it throws off their patterns going to and from the fields on top east and west side. i have a friend who shot a 156 3/8 only 70 yards from the road not during the rut. phade
I can't recall but is there any marsh/swamp land in Letchworth?
TheTruth2
Eh, id say the closest thing is the river bottom. WOuldnt really call it a marsh or swamp but it can get pretty swamp like down there
ncountry
Letchworth eh? Except for the occasional hill, my favorite place to hunt. Were the pictures taken in hunting zones or in the no hunting area? I hunt mainly swamps up here and I have yet to run into any cattails except for 1 little patch on the side of a hill go figure. lol
