Yeah that is a fisher. They get suprisingly large. Lots of bushy hair too. I have trapped many fishers over the years and they get big and nasty. Hell there main diet is porcupine if that says anything.

Ok... So how rare is a fisher in northern Westchester County , NY?

Dont know about your area but they are very abundant here along the salmon river. I would think not that rare at all. Hardly ever see them out in the wild especially during the day here but come trapping season its not hard to hit a quota at all in a short time.

From DEC website. Tried to find a population map of them but no such luck.

In New York State, fisher can be found throughout approximately 26,000 square miles of forested habitat within the northern, eastern and southeastern parts of the state.

Its not a porky pig and its def not a Fisher. Im saying its either a Opossum or a Coon with mange. But def not a Fisher. cool pics.

Proximity to other homes for one... Not to mention that tracking a wounded deer onto other folks property would become an issue... I live in a Northern suburb of NYC... Way too many antis here!

My buddy has a nice 8 pointer running around his backyard in Harrison...how to insure a paralyzingly shot to avoid it dying on the libs lawn next door....lol...big problem with no solution except to enjoy the view and drive 2 hours to hunting land we access and leave th big boy a home!..sux
