tughillhunter
NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police say they are assisting local police in Newtown amid reports of a shooting at an elementary school. The school superintendent's office says the district has locked down schools to ensure the safety of students and staff. The shooting was reported at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, in western Connecticut. State police say Newtown police called them at about 9:40 a.m. about the reports. The Newtown Bee newspaper posted a photo of a group of young students - some crying, others looking visibly frightened - being escorted by adults through a parking lot in a line, hands on each other's shoulders. State police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance says they have a number of personnel on the scene to assist. www.9wsyr.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This crap makes me sick. throw all these disgraces to society on a barge and sink it in the arctic for all i care. Deerthug
Been listening to the news on this - probably going to end up being some disgruntled employee that was fired or personal dispute. Just heard a child may have been shot in the face. Gunman is dead - not sure if self-inflicted or by cop.

Sounds like that is the case: The principal and a school psychologist were killed, according to a parent who was at the school during the incident. The vice principal was shot in the foot or the leg, said the eyewitness, who has a second-grader at the school, and who talked to our colleague Meredith Artley. No kids where hurt thank god. Deerthug
No kids where hurt thank god. I hope to God the kids are safe. But the news should get their stories straight. I read online different news reports that there were multiple fatalities and just heard it on FoxNews that "a dozen people were killed"???? Local officials just confirmed 12 killed - 20+ shot Edited December 14, 2012 by Deerthug
Early
Latest reports suggest multiple (12 - 20) deaths. If only one...or none, a school shooting is a tragedy of the highest magnitude. I did not like seeing those children walking away from the building single file with hands on each other's shoulders. That makes for a long, slow-moving target(s). It would seem that getting to safety quickly would be of paramount importance. Holding hands with a single partner and running like hell would seem like a better form of action to me. Sad stuff here....and, unfortunately, it will rub off to some degree on all us law-abiding gun-owning citizens.
Single_shot
Atleast 27 dead.Including children. http://news.msn.com/...ementary-school Edited December 14, 2012 by Single_shot
steve863
They are now saying up to 18 kids dead with 27 total dead. I hope these numbers don't go up. This will be the straw to break the camels back on the gun issue in this country. I will guarantee it. It's one thing killing adults, but it's something entirely different killing innocent elementary school kids.

burmjohn
So this killer was a 20 year old father? They said he was armed with two handguns and a .22 rifle. They arrested a 2nd individual that might be tied to this as well?

WNYBuckHunter
The article I read said there were 2 shooters, with one dead. Be careful what you believe right now, it always takes a while before the facts come out. Remember the movie theater shooting? Tons of bogus info in the first 4 to 8 hours. joe12
i hope these cowards burn in hell. Notice that they all target places where it is guaranteed that there will be no on shooting back.
steve863
I dont think it will be. Its a horrible event, but its not the first time that kids have been killed in a shooting. Not this many kids, plus it sure seems like these massacres are becoming a weekly event now. I honestly don't think people nor our government will stand for it much longer. Something will have to give in my honest opinion.
burmjohn
The news is getting worse. The kids were shot execution style, shot and killed his parent first and then went to this school for to shoot up his mothers classroom (she was a teacher there). I don't have the answer but things like this are out of control and it is a copycat country. We need to address this somehow.
