G-Man
Saw 3 different ice fishing huts on case lake today on my way into work. Guess ice fishing season has begun!
Red
I just told my wife yesterday that I think I want to buy my first ice hut soon and give case lake a try. I haven't fished case lake in years

Doewhacker
I haven't been in years but I have decided this is the year I will go again! I hope to hit up some where this weekend, its going to be plenty cold and some lakes this way are freezing already.
Pygmy
Two inches isn't enough for this old fart..I want at least four inches of good, clear ice. I agree about the snow, G-Man.. It insulates the ice and it doesn't build nearly as fast. Shucks, under all that snow the ground isn't even frozen yet.
arrow nocker
I read about there being 4-5 inches straight out from the wigwam on sandy pond.I will update tomorrow night.Thinking of going up Saturday.but we have more snow landing on the ice tonight.GRRRRRRR I am itching to get on the ice.Who is going to if its good ice? wdswtr
You guys ever do any good out of wigwam or sandy for that matter. I have fished it many times and there never is any size to the perch there. Dinks every time. Maybe Im hitting it wrong times but never been impressed. When Chamount is safe its worth the trip. arrow nocker
I don't keep nothing smaller than my 8 inch hole.I have limited out straight from wigwam. But I like to fish in 12ft to deeper water too.Depends on the day, time, and Moon.(cough cough). Doc
Nope! 2" won't do it for me either. I wonder if Honeoye lake is froze over yet?
Doewhacker
I keep tossing around the idea of hitting up a pond I know in the Adirondacks or staying closer to home. The pond would require a mile snow shoe trek and around home I could just walk on..hmmm
arrow nocker
sandy pond has any where from 5 to 8 inches but alot of that is SNOW ICE.I talked to some guys coming off the pond today and they said some spots has 3 inches of black ice and 3 to 4 of snow ice in top of that.Would not take any machines out on it.They didn't catch anything they said.I am going to wait till sunday and i think i might hand tow my shanty out there. Henderson had a lot of open water and no tracks going out on the ice.I didn't go out to check it but i also read on Iceshanty.com that it was not safe ice yet. Chaumont bay had alot of open water and the people local bait shop said it is any where from 2-6 inches. Not very safe ice and nothing much being caught that they know of yet. GreeneHunter
I envy you guys ... I gave all my ice fishing gear to my son-in-law a few years ago and now he only takes me once a year for my token ice fishing day !
Doewhacker
We went to Moreau Lake yesterday and hag a few flags but no fish wanted to stay on the hooks. The important thing was that my wife and two young kids had a great time and want to go more in the future.
tughillhunter
Checked out Butterfield today. Went out on sandy pond yesterday, fishing sucked. 4 keepers in 3 hours. 4 and a half inches
tughillhunter
Anyone doing well? I've been getting skunked. My dad and brother are out on henderson today, but after being on the St. Lawrence for 12 hours yesterday, my couch and I are chillin.
