Have you ever smelled deer before seeing them . I swear that I have . A few times , while day dreaming in a stand , I have smelled something only to look and see a deer ( and I didn't have to lick my nose to make it happen ) .

One time I shot one with the bow at last light, I had forgotten a flash light and had to go out in the dark and find a light. I smelled the the buck and had walked right by him on the way out but couldn't see him due to the darkness. I remember stoping and saying boy I can smell him, where is he?

yes the wind was just right that day and it happened to me once. i swore i smelled him before i saw him...

I smell deer one time and my buddy said i was crazy.But to this day I swear I got a wiff and then 3 doe came out in the open.

Absolutely...I have smelled deer a number of times before I have seen the.. I have also smelled foxes and coyotes, but usually they had vacated the premises just before I smelled them.I saw the evidence in the snow..

One animal that you can REALLY use your nose on is elk.. I have smelled elk 100 yards upwind on several occasions.. Get a nosefull and hunt very slowly and carefully upwind...They smell like a rutting whitetail, only about ten times stronger..

I shot a p&y 10pt on 10/28 at 415 in the afternoon on a east side of a hill waited till 5 to track it. it was dark and I smelled it before I saw it.

Yes, it happens to me when the deer come in directly upwind of me. They arent exactly the sweetest smelling flowers in the field lol

Yes, usually during the rut. They have a tendency of being very pungent.

A few times when tracking a rutting buck that I killed I've smelled them before I saw them. Probably 30-40 yds in the thick stuff. I hunt from a tree so never smelt one "on the hoof".
