Well there is an TC Encore...or you can try the Encore....or maybe even an Encore. ...LOL.

I took a buck @ 55 and a Doe @76 with mine in 308 Win. The availability of barrels is wonderful. Pick you caliber and have at it.

This target is off the bench at 100yards. The squares are 1"

Remington XP100R in 260Rem. They aren't in every Dick's or Gander Mountain!

I got mine from an old timer down in Stueben County a couple years ago. I was a nice older gentleman. He brought his lovely fiancée with him when we did the deal. What a cute couple, I wonder if they'll EVER get married??

I digress, the Encore is an awesome gun and much more common. They are all fun to shoot. Good luck!

Alright so Encore is the top favorite as of now lol. What is the 260 comparable too? 270?

260 is a necked down 308 using a 6.5mm bullet. Look at some ballistics charts, its a very flat shooting long range round. It is used quite a bit in long range competition. Its good for everything up to and including Elk. Recoil is not too bad in the Encore handgun with a standard profile barrel.

it is a 15" barrel. I am shooting 130gr reduced recoil hand loads but I have shot factory ammo through it. Factory is perfectly fine for hunting but I (tio be honest) was chicken to sit at the range and throw 20 rounds down the pipe with full factory ammo and I worried about flinching. It is a kitten to shoot becasue it is NOT light. I ahve shot a box of 50 of my hand loads in one afternoon and never got the slightest bit sore.

I shot a doe at about 55 yards with my Thompson Contender chambered in 7-30 waters a few years ago . The 7-30 is a 7mm bullet loaded in a necked down 30-30 cartridge . I seldom take the Contender hunting .

I was looking at that cartrige, the 7mm-08 and the 308. Just got a better deal on the 308. that 7-30 is a very nice round.

i like a 50 black powder pistol 12 in barrel, does well out to 100 yrds with opensights, killed a few deer with it and a wild boar. you have to watch for older tc encore and contender barrels they are not the legal 15 in but 15 and 1/4 they are sold as 15 in barrels. nobody ever turned them down to 15 in. you can get pinched for barrels to long especially if eco has had a bad day.

I initially had the Hunter barrel that was ported and helped with recoil . Once when I was shooting in the woods I placed my hand on a tree and laid the Contender across my arm and fired . The gas blowing out the ported holes blew dust from the tree bark in my eyes and my eyes hurt for 3 days . I traded that barrel for a non ported barrel .
