I hope Zimmerman is convicted of something....He should not get off Scott free. I hope the general public accepts the verdict...and there is no rioting/looting.

I would be surprised if he's not at least convicted on the manslaughter charge............gonna be interesting.

I think he should get off scott free although he might well not because of the horse crap spin the media has put on this. Why wouldn't the judge admit testimony of Martin telling his chubby girl friend in the cell phone conversation saying imma gonna kick the sh#t outta dis motha f@cka???? or the fact that Martin had a violent past and was suspended from school and sent away???WTH?

I've been sitting home recovering from surgery the past few weeks and have watched a lot of the trial, no doubt Zimmerman is a little off.............it's very odd to see how someone could have acted so calmly after just fighting for his life and then killing someone in order to survive, I don't think many cops could have acted the way he did immediately afterwards and his story is to text book to be 100% believable............just my opinion.

Since Zimmerman was charged with 2nd degree murder , how can the judge give the jury the option of convicting him of the lesser charge of manslaughter , after the trial was over ? It seems to me that the prosecutors office should only be able to convict him of what he was charged of. By allowing the manslaughter charge , I think the jury will compromise on that.

Eegads...There's a lot of ppl willing to indicate a willingness to kill with a picture of them next to the statement..

Wouldn't want to be a juror in that trial...I'm due to go to the county seat for jury duty very soon...hope it's not a racial thing or anything involving kids if I'm picked...thought my honesty would get me out of it last time and they made me foreman... <_<

funny you should mention the thing about anything involving kids,.........how could the defense think it a good idea to have a jury on this case consisting of all women, and if I'm not mistaken, all have children? you would think they would want a few jurors with no children.

I don't care about it, one way, or the other.

If I was to question it  I would ask,

If someone was following you at night near your house, would you stop and stand YOUR ground, or run away ??  Was Martin standing his ground ?

When you carry a side arm, you have a responsibility to not put yourself in an unnecessary position to cause you to use it ?

Was this necessary ? I don't know . So I can't judge it.

I think this whole deal has been a big fiasco from the start. All you have to do is look at the pictures of Zimmerman when he was first. Taken to the police station or hospital to figure out how Martin ended up dead. The guy should walk. The race card is bogus, just a distraction from the fact this Martin kid was a drug dealing little punk.

I liked how the prosecution said that it was not a racially motivated case and the first witness that they called (an african american women) stated that Martin told her some "cracker" was following him. She also stated that she thought there was nothing wrong with that term. Other than that, I do not know too much of the details, however, I do know that many kids today have a sense of entitlement. Many of no respect for authority or elders. I was at a pizza place last week and a teenager spilled soda on his phone. He screams "fuck", knocks his plate off the table, and storms out. Where is the respect?

would a reasonable person find the need to shoot and kill someone because they got punched in the face? that's the question.........and Zimmerman was never hurt bad enough to go to the hospital, he went to a Dr. the next day to get a "note for work"

In this case no one knows except the people there and one is dead. Seems like from what i understand from what little i have watched and read is that it does seem to be self defense but because he is young and black it is being questioned. I am sure if the aggressor was white this would not be head line news.

At what point then is the right to defend yourself justifiable in a "right to carry" state?

I totally agree. This case wouldn't have been in the national spotlight if the media hadn't made it a racial issue, which they did. MSNBC they call George Zimmerman a "white Hispanic" vigilante and Trevon Martin an innocent little black kid. Get real...

How bad must one be beaten before they can defend their life, must it exceed broken nose, head lacerations, what exactly is the criteria, oh wait I will answer that, if you have a weapon drawn on a person and you tell them to stop coming towards you and they continue then you can shoot, hence "stand your ground" state, no need to get beat up first, and that's the law. Fla is a stand your ground state, does that not mean anything? Zimmerman had a permit for the firearm and was not doing anything wrong illegal that I could see, or no one saw for that matter, what happened to requiring proof? Why wasn't all the evidence showing Martins character allowed in this case? Im sorry but I have a lot of problems with this whole process.

All that being said im starting to smell hung jury and that's what im betting on.....

His head was being slammed into the ground, Martin was on top of him. If he hadnt stopped it, who knows how it could have gone.

I not really defending either one , since I'm not on the jury .....but  Zimmerman did at the time come across as a wanna be cop. Maybe he should have backed off especially when the dispatcher told him so. Little Travon Martin was no angel either.

most NORMAL people carry a gun in a "right to carry" state to protect themselves and their families if they are targeted by criminals, they don't go looking to put themselves in that situation...................... with that being said, you can't just be involved in a fight with someone and just pull your gun and shoot them, you have to have the a REASONABLE fear that you're going to die.............from watching the "experts" speak at this trial, Zimmerman had minor injuries.

Zimmerman, from all accounts, didnt pick a fight, he asked what Martin was doing, and Martin attacked him. Minor injuries to the head and face are now not reason to defend yourself? Someone pinning you on the ground and punching you is not reason enough?

What about if your trying to protect your neighborhood and your on a neighborhood watch, all legal and you have a legal CC permit? Not exactly putting yourself in a situation. Does wanting to protect your neighborhood mean anything and should that be outlawed?

but he didn't draw his weapon first and tell the kid to stop, he woulda been better off with that scenario.

What about the 911 call when you can clearly hear someone screaming for help. Does anyone hear really believe that was an unmarked (aside from bullet in chest)Martin screaming for help, or was it the guy with the bumps bruises, broken nose and lacerations on his head. I mean wheres the common sense hear, Martin with not a scratch on his face was screaming for help, come on.
