What's The Correlation ?

1) Between being a rock star ( Ted Nugent ) and hunting ?

2) Nascar racing and hunting ?

3) College football and hunting ?

One has absolutely nothing to do with the other , but I see it whenever I look at a Cabela's catalog . I hope it's not for advertisement purposes  , because they won't get a dime from me . I can't stand the combinations.

Just got the Cabelas 2013 limited Fall edition hard cover, and don't see anything but, hunt, hunting, and more hunting.

Ed: Oh, and fishing too!

A lot of money, research, and statistical analysis goes into it.  Whether you want to deny the correlation or not.  For example, those supermarket savings cards that you attach to you keychain to get weekly discounts?  They track your purchases based on zip code and other information.  This way, the supermarket knows what to put in the weekly ads.  If they notice more people are this town are buying this brand of bread etc.  You even see it on this site where the ads on the side receives its information based on other websites you've visited.

Plain and simple actually.

Celebrities already have an incredibly large and established fan base.

If hunting and fishing gear suppliers and manufactures can tap into even a small percentage of that population by association, they've reached out to a new potential consumer crowd they otherwise had no access to.

not following either... my guess another Ted Nugent stab?

if you dont like him you dont like him...

I like some of his music and share some of his political views.....but wouldn't care to see him in concert shooting fire tipped arrows on stage wearing a Indian chief head dress while talking about the sacred buffalos. He became famous as a rock star . Why does he find it necessary to combine rock music and target shooting in concert ?

The shooting sports and the 2nd amendment are things that he is passionate about, so he uses his fame to get his pro gun opinions out there. Just like the Hollywood " no guns for anyone accept for me and my security staff "  types do every day.    Same thing.

it's easy  99% of hunters are beer drinking, nascar watching, football loving red blooded americans

the other 1% are you

OUCH !............. I love beer and football as much as the next guy , but you wont find me wearing a camouflage Notre Dame baseball cap. In fact , I bet you wont find the players wearing one either. I'll admit that I don't care for Nascar ( turn left , turn left , turn left ) , when do you think the camouflage LeBron James sneakers will hit the market ?

Excellent reply there Wooly............makes a lot of sense now that you pointed it out.

I flunked " plain and simple " in school.

i personally do not like his music...

maybe its his claim to fame? people have to stand out some how, ozzy ate pigeon heads at his concerts, whats that have to do with music?

im still not following the correlation question. I mean, theres millions of different marketing schemes being used in various channels, not just hunting per say. if your question is why they use the face of other celeb faces or forms of sports/celebs as a marketing gimmick, its quite simple. A hunter can be in the form of anyone really... a famous singer, star athlete and so on.  doesnt necessarily have to be pertinent to hunting.

jeff gordon became famous as a driver not a mountain dew drinker BUT thats his sponsor i guess.

so if you were famous you would ONLY be famous for doing that one thing even tho other people or agencies want to throw money at you to advertise something else??? ok lol

money talks

Yeah......I guess your right about it not being pertinent to hunting . I guess my world's a little more black and white than I thought ( and I don't mean that in a racial way ). Come to think of it , I watch this show on Outdoor Channel called " Mathews TV " starring Dave Watson.

Isn't he originally known as a country music star ? I only knew of him thru the hunting show. I guess it's not pertinent after all .

A fine cognac, Formula 1, and a few ends of cricket......its how I roll.

Teds been shootin' arrows off his guitar strings since the Amboy Dukes days. Been to a few fine Ted concerts, and a few that were so-so.

Honest I don't really follow since Scream Dreams....and what was that BS with Styx members; embarrassing. More of a Double Live Gonzo fan. He did have the good sense to give Meatloaf the boot.

Don't care about his political jibberish....I ignore it as to not tarnish some memories of my youth.

Other than my home  being in the woods there is nothing country about me beyond hunting. Most people are shocked to find out I hunt and very few could fathom the effort I put forth into deer biology and hunting. I never wear camo in public, hate country music, drive a Forester without any bumper stickers and never watched a NASCAR race in my life. My wife sports a good amount of ink and looks like 50s pinup girl. I never downplay my love of the outdoors or endorse. To each their own and I couldn't care less who likes that or not; just who I am. I am not that proud of many of the slobs who broadcast their love of hunting/gun ownership distastefully. The "bleed em out" "bambi killer" and assorted shirts and stickers give us a black eye in modern society. When the SAFE act stuff hit I went to a few rallies- WOW! Some real ignorant poorly displayed opinions there. Sad but true. Not sure what this thread is about...or why you posted it....but see some point to it....then again if you insult the sport (not the players) I will defend it tooth and nail and have been scouting deer since last December while most watch TV most of the year.....be a good ambassador for your loves and our heritage.

Dinsdale.....................a few ends of Cricket .  Are you from Great Britain ?

Best friend in elementary school/middle school, who lived next door, was English.......so I have a basic understanding of the rules as he and his dad would set up wickets and I would play. They had a bunch of Brit nationals show up from the area to make up teams.....god aweful English food they'd make. uggg.

Been to 2 real rugby games also in South Africa.......holy crap, those guys are NUTS!

If I really picked......

Mikes hard lemonade.....Formula 1......in person a hockey game.....on tv March Madness.

You say that you have never watched a nascar race in your life. How would you feel about wearing a  # 3 Dale Earnhart camouflage ball cap the next time you go hunting ? Correlation means to have in common with or be related to.

No way that I'm insulting the sport.........but glad you will defend it too.

Gotcha.............ever have shepherds pie ?

Shepards pie I have had has been really good.

But the meat has been more like pulled than ground.......and not any offal mixed in. Its been a mix of mutten and beef.

I've seen some that look "runny" and gray; not very appetizing

There was a Brit couple who owned a little place downstate here in a small town that did awesome authentic fish and chips served in newspaper and they had a shepards pie lunch special that was good.

Closed up and started a Brit import food shop closer to the city. Used to buy Aero candy bars by the case from them. YUM!
