Shot at a doe tonite. 15 yards. My son swears i hit it...but no blood or anything. Added to the fact i cant find my arrow. I looked for a good hour or so. All over where she walked to where i shot at her....sick feeling. Any thoughts?

go back and look again in the am hours. if you did hit her. you owe it to her to at least look some more in the daylight. Also if yuou have any friends willing to help you look.. Look in the area where she ran off to.. Its real tough when you have ZERO blood.... Were you in a stand or the ground?

Yep, look in the daylight. Look for where she kicked up some dirt or leaves. Hopefully you find some blood or a clean arrow.

Deflection of the arrow is a possibility.  BUT, you need to investigate as thoroughly as possible.  Hopefully you find a clean arrow!

Good luck in finding her or a clean arrow. I get a sick feeling when i see a dead deer on the side of the road, what a waste. let us kno what you find.

I was on the ground. I looked in about a 40yard circle behind where she was. If i missed im sure i wouldve found the arrow. Sucks but im def going back in the morning

What did she do when you shot? What did you hear?

 

High back/muscle hit will appear the same as a miss from a lack of blood and arrow standpoint

High shot no blood for 50 yds or more, really look in am where she ran toward.Don't muck Around in the dark, look good and hard in am. You may find small tuff of hair where she was standing or arrow, but good chance of high hit=little no blood for quite a ways.

After the shot she blew and bounded 3 times. Stopped an stood there. I grabbed another arrow and im sure she saw me. Walked off then blew again then nothing.

Literally blew as the arrow wouldve impacted.

Sounds like a miss if she was blowing. Try expanding your search farther for your arrow. May have shot over her back and we all know how far a arrow can travel. Most deer won't blow after being hit. They will bound off and stop but I've never seen or heard of them blowing after being hit. If it was a real high hit shot there's a very good chance she will live also. Good luck!

Well i say she blew but ten minutes earlier a huge doe came in and didnt like something. She and a little one blew a few times and ran off blowing. So i assumed it was the one i hit. Ill check in the morning. Still sucks though

Searched all morning. No arrow no blood no deer. Guess ill take it as i missed although not finding the arrow really has me stuck.

They will blow when lung hit or hit in esophogus. Expelling blood. But sounds like you would have found that blood.

I was thinking the same but i didnt find anything. I looked hard...down on all fours looking for anything. Walked they way she went and nothing.

if you were on the ground, that arrow could've gone along way.  Its not like a treestand when you have a hard downward angle  i guarantee its out there on the ground somewhere 50-60 yards out

Kinda mad at myself. Had i let her walk another ten feet i wouldve had a bigger shooting lane. But where i shot at her was still a good shot. I probably missed and my arrow went somewhere deep in the woods. Funny thing is i shoot aluminums and when they go in the woods you can hear em lol back at it again this evening. Maybe i can redeem myself:rolleyes:

Never wait for the perfect shot. It doesn't exist in most cases. Take the first good clean shot. No second guessing.

 

Get back out there and hunt. Make sure your gear is accurate shake off the cobwebs.

Im headed back out tonite. A little earlier than last evening. This time ill have my dad an friends hunting with me so more people to help search. Shot the bow this morning...its dead on so. Not the equipment its me. Still not sure how i missed but it happens.

i had one i hit high go 60 yards no blood, found her 3 days later not 10' from where i walked by 100x looking, early season is tough lots of green.

I mustve walked 200/300 yards. Zigzag back an forth in the direction she went. Tons of trails but not sign of any dead deer.

set up a quick target and thorw a confidence arrow before you go out. Who knows what could have got knocked on you. Good luck
