Woodjr55
I shot a grey squirrel tonight with a judo point. The arrow went right through the squirrel and out the other side. I thought they where suppose to just cause blunt force trama to the animal

Woodjr55
So at 10 yards they should go through?
beachpeaz
The do go right through. The damage are those wires hanging off the point that destroy the intenals. I shoot rabbits with mine. Clean pass through on everyone I have shot. D.O.D (dead on delivery). One rabbit even had its intestines pulled out the other side.
judoespecialist
Yes I think 10 yards is good enough to shoot. The need to keep lots of things in mind while doing it while using judo. MACHINIST
What about blunt tips and squirrels/rabbits?I was going to get a good pellet pistol for next year but have decided to carry a few extra arrows with judo's or blunts on them instead for next season. Woodjr55
I'd stick with judo tips if you miss the springs on a judo tip keep them from going to deep in the ground
nyantler
I use blunts and they kill all "small' game deader than dead... never ruin any meat... judo points sometimes get a bit messy
Doc
I use blunts and they kill all "small' game deader than dead... never ruin any meat... judo points sometimes get a bit messy There used to be a small-game head that was a big hard rubber blunt. Do they still sell those?
fasteddie
Doc .... The hard rubber blunts are called THUMPERS and are still sold .
Doc
Doc .... The hard rubber blunts are called THUMPERS and are still sold . I thought they would be. They were real popular and did a heck of a job on rabbits and squirrels.

dbHunterNY
I have and use both the judo and blunt points. the blunt points will just wound a squirrel if you graze it so you might need a follow up, but they don't ruin meat like a judo. neither will drive into and under the forest floor duff. dbHunterNY
Cabelas carries both.
nycredneck
I just picked up some blunts or "thumpers" on ebay, have yet to try them but I'm sure they will achieve great results.
nyantler
I also like the blunts for stump shooting while I'm searching for squirrels and rabbits... I usually bring a blunt during deer season for the same reason... practice while hunting!
Doc
These doc? http://www.lancasterarchery.com/pro-release-thumper-small-game-blunt.html Yup. I don't recall them being quite that aggressive un the face, and I thought they were more flat-faced but that was a lot of years ago that I last saw any of them. Anyway, they were the same theory of operation. That price looks kind of reasonable by today's standards.
JALA RUT
Wow, that brings back some memories...I used to keep a couple judo points in my quiver all the time while deer hunting. I haven't done that in years...I think I'll plan on doing that again starting next season. I never got a rabbit with my judos but one year I got lucky on a grouse that was walking by my stand...pretty cool way to take a grouse but I remember the judo tip ripped him up pretty good - still tasted great! TheRDJ
The practice points that come with many broadheads do the job as well. And they're free (kinda). Rage practice heads are great for small game. Plus, I like them better because theres a better chance of your arrow surviving the shot. I have broken every arrow that I have shot with a Judo. The practice heads are still sharp and will bury themselves whereas the judo points cause blunt force impact on the arrow as well. Culvercreek hunt club
Makes me wonder if the technology of the small game tips has kept up with the speed of the new bows? Seems like it would take a hell of a large tip to keep an arrow from a modern bow from going through. I would have to get different arrows to small game hunt with. No way I am shooting mine into a tree to get a squirrel...lol

Woodjr55
Old post but can you use judos on turkey I don't plan on using one this spring but in the fall I'll bring out my cousin for turkey and I'll bring my bow and I don't want to shoot a turkey with my mechanical and leave a 2 in hole it it
dbHunterNY
I shoot a 345fps bow and prefer the rubber blunt heads but have and shoot the judo heads too.
Vince1
I plan on putting an adder point behind a broadhead, figure it will penetrate and get stuck inside. least that what I read around the net
Larry
To dbHunterNY how do you know your bow shoots 345fps? Are you using the IBO stated speed or did you run your arrows over a chronograph.
