Baby Plav’s daycare is shut down for 2 weeks because of Covid so I got a rare Thursday off to hang with him.  We checked trail cams and cooked.  I almost feel guilty posting this one.  Red wine braise

No pictures from tonight and today. Last night dinner was at The Polite Pig.... smoked brisket, baked white cheddar mac n cheese, jalapeño corn muffin, and sweeter recipe slaw of some kind. Few Bbq sauces; a cracked black pepper and JD flavor, Carolina style, and sweet berry with a kick of heat.

Hunters Favorite Chili from a Time/Life cookbook. It was the first game recipe I ever cooked and I have stuck with it for almost 30 years. My Father in law gave me a backstrap and I had no clue, so I chopped it up into bite size pieces and took it from there. Now I know better, this was made from stew pieces.
7 from Tree House in the background, the last of my niece's Xmas gift to me.
Not pictured is my wife's homemade Honey Cornbread. I'm stuffed and very happy, may crack a new bottle of bourbon later!

Oh I see that cornbread hiding back there! I am not recommending this but I wonder how you would feel about it made with blackstrap today?

Yes, I guess it was back there.  It’s gone now! 

I’m sure it would taste delicious with backstrap, but there are so many other things to make with that prime piece of meat, I just would not have the gall to do it now.  

I actually made this batch for a friend of ours that would come to our Annual Super Bowl party.  I would always have a couple of game dishes for people to try.  This year she sent a text and said the main thing she would miss this year was my Venison Chili.   So she is getting a few servings tomorrow.
