njg0621
I will be out tomorrow AM and PM and Friday afternoon, also the mornings and evenings on Saturday and Sunday. You guys really sit ALL day for opening day? It is to early in the season for me to sit all day right now...no real rut activity at all in the area so they are still in summer mode for the most part, eating. I sit all day when the rut starts but until then it is pretty much a waste of time to me. Of course there is always an odd chance of a shooter showing up but not worth an all day sit at this point. Chef
I'll be out Saturday all day! I wanted to take off and hunt tomorrow through the weekend, but we have our biggest event of the year at work tomorrow and I don't think my boss would have been too happy with me taking off. I did however take off November 3rd to the 10th so I should have some nice hunting then!
Bigreed
Unfortunately I will not be able to hunt until Saturday due to school but I'm looking forward to it

growalot
I sit all day when the rut starts but until then it is pretty much a waste of time to me. Of course there is always an odd chance of a shooter showing up but not worth an all day sit at this point. I use to think like that as well...until I got a bunch of cameras out running...everybuck this late summer and the one s recent...have been mid day to 6pm...mostly 12-3....which means my early morning and even many late afternoons were a waste of time...I now go to certain areas based on wind and times I have seen the buck near cameras...then longer the last two weeks of Oct. Don_C
I will second that... every mature buck i have on camera in the last 4 weeks has been between 12:30 and 2:30 in the afternoon.
burmjohn
Heading up tomorrow night after work to my place. My brother is coming, his cousin, and then I have another buddy coming up Friday. Took Thursday and Friday off to hunt. Weather looks crappy for Sat morning till about 3pm, rest of the days seem OK but would be nice if it was 20 degree's colder! Can't wait to get out there! dbHunterNY
probably won't get out until this weekend. then it all depends on QDM co-op business to attend to as it's our first year. Good luck to everyone who will be out and where a harness and climb with three points of contact if hunting from a tree stand!
thphm
OMG, that's when you give a little lip squeak or a fawn distress. Who knows, that fawn distress could bring in a fatty doe! Good idea, but I never had any luck with the shopping bag of calls that I gathered threw the years. On attracting Deer that is. But I did once while Turkey hunting and a Yote. circled around me. And another time again with Turkey calls with blow up decoys out, had a spike buck charge and knock the decoy off of its stake. Maby should take a turkey call with me tomorrow. Doc
I still have to get caught up on my fall clean-up and maintenance. So scouting has taken a hit this year. Any time I get in the woods during this early part of the season will probably be on the crappiest days that are not suitable for anything else. Also, I will be doing something that has never been all that effective. That would be a combination of still-hunting, and scouting. I really was unprepared this year, and in the future will have to figure a new schedule with this new early start to the bowhunting. Who the hell ever said that retirement was a time of kicking back and relaxing? ..... lol. I have less time than when I was working.
LuckyPickle123
Yes Sir, So many people ruin their chances at great bucks during bow season by hunting good spots when the time is not right. Yes some will get it right and run into a good buck early but i would say most hunters educate the bigger deer early and set them on guard way to fast. I like this hunting. I've scouted all summer and mapped shooter bucks coming out into fields. I think this time is easier to kill a mature buck vs. the rut when they start running all over the place. 1st couple of weeks is always a solid chance to kill a monster before the rut. landtracdeerhunter
I spotted another stand this morning. Ever get that feeling, their is one more spot where a stand belongs? We'll I got that feeling and grabbed a stand out of the barn. Deer have moved into the red clover the last few evenings. I believe the blossoms have seed in them and doe are drawn to eat them. We'll see if my efforts were fruitless.
RTGobbler
I'll be missing the next few days. Work, then a wedding I am in, then back to work. Maybe the weekend of the 11th. I'll be watching the threads from my office though. This will give me some more time to shoot and plan too. First few days will be scouting hunts since I have not had much time to check out all my spots. A new house and a new baby in the last few months have consumed a lot of time . Good luck everyone!
