Never heard of it either, if established and being well known as a law it sure would be a heck of a lot easier than tacking up signs.

I found a line of purple painted trees at Carlton Hill state land... ON state land!

First time hearing about this too. The purple paint will help with the ya-hoo's ripping down the signs we tack up. But outside of us actually standing there. The scumbags will continue to trespass.

I really hope NY goes to the purple paint law.  I've said for many years it makes sense. And for such a tree hugging state, I'm surprised they haven't implemented it yrs ago.

I remember it being talked about a few years ago and it never went anywhere. Maybe this time it will.

Article says people are already using this method in areas of the state. I wonder if those county's passed their own law? If not, it would be difficult to get someone on trespassing as it's not legally posted per NYS.

And I'm sure lots of people will claim ignorance and for a couple yrs, all the scum will be given is a warning because the law is too new.

Outdated story - The sponsor of the "purple paint" bill, Senator Seward served from January 2003 - December 2020.
