I went out yesterday...shouldn't have but wanted to see if there were any tracks and if so how they were traveling...plus cams needed new batteries...Well I was very very pleased to see them every where and some very regular trails the turkey have made along with roosting trees...I moved one cam to see if I can catch their travels but I know I have several big boys still around...in most places even I was able to walk on top of the hard pack  sinking a couple of inches...but several tracks and groups of tracks were sunken in with very large prints....In 2 weeks I'll set up my doghouse blind and maybe even the chair blind...thinking there will be a good amount of rain this season..at least early....

Saw a flock of 30 birds or so this morning that I've been watched for the past couple of weeks now...there were 5 longbearded stutters in the midst!!! Down the road a little bit here was another flock with a big ole strutter.  Today finally felt as is spring is here (until this weekend)...

Grow I live within a couple miles of lots of windmills. Have been seeing lots of birds. I hunt around them every spring. Never a problem have seen birds feeding under them as well as have gotten a few within yards of them. Some years I have better luck under the windmills then in other spots.

Just saw my first flock of the year yesterday, I have no idea where they go but they always seem to disappear between end of Dec til beginning of April

My buddy who lives in Ontario near the north shore of Lake Ontario  has noticed a similar phenomenon over the years,Joe.

He sees few birds close to his home in the winter and then starts seeing them again in April. His area has similar topography to your area. I have always suspected it had to do with the terrain and cover/feed patterns along the lake plain, or in your case, The St Lawrence River.
