Maybe separating "New York Gun and Hunting Laws and Legislation" with "Politics Discussion". Some may want to filter out "Immigrants Are Destroying This Country" but not miss out on "Dove Hunting Making Progress" even though filters don't work on TapaTalk.

A year ago grow, I would have said your open ended thread titles were annoying. Today I'd say they're a breath of fresh air compared to copy and paste nonsense. At least your posts are generally geared towards the outdoors and NY related events.

I knew i could not be the only one that took them there posts that way.  Humdingers at times!

OMG...you didn't go there with your  high fence hunting theories...and I do whats best for my properties despite the laws BS...you are one humdinger  in your own right....

I thought the intent of that particular forum was to discuss pending hunting/fishing/trapping/ and other legislation surrounding those sorts of outdoor activities. I really believe that is an important function of this site, to keep people informed as to what the legislators are doing to for us.

But then, looking at the forum description, "New York Gun and Hunting Laws and Legislation and Politics Discussions”, there is an addition that if it were gone might just clean up the whole mess. That inclusion “And Politics Discussions” is the part that is totally unrelated to the theme of the site, and while some of that stuff can be interesting, it does have a tendency to get a long way from what people come here to talk about.

Most likely the perfect solution if we want to stay on theme would be to remove the “and Politics Discussions”, and after a short period of enforcement, things would immediately be re-focused back to the core themes of the site.

Best solution yet. I like to know about the safe act and conservation and regulation changes. Not that Hillary and bin laden planned 9/11 together with our tax dollars.

"All politics is local." --Tip O'neill

Politics is a big part of life. It will be used to either support the things we love, or to do away with those things. Ignoring political issues is not an option on any internet discussion board, especially when the issues of hunting and firearms are involved.

HNY is a 'local' board, and I find it useful to see what members (neighbors) think on a variety of issues. All of it matters in the end, including the fact that some would like to have politics removed.

There are a lot of folks out there who like to compartmentalize. And in a way, I get it. It's nice not to have to deal with reality, especially when it comes to our past-times. Unfortunately Hunting is a controversial issue today for many, not least in part because of the fire-arms aspect. Anti-gunners will one day ruin US hunting, mark my words. And those 3 or 4 whiny little snot noses round here who want the world to play by their rules, are totally complicit in what it is coming.

There are certainly many more options to aquire political information than on a NY hunting forum. I do like to read political articles about concerns I have about national and local politics that may effect me. But I don't choose to do that here on a hunting site. Just like you don't eat your dinner in the bathroom, there is a proper place for everything. Also this is in no way a slam against ANY member here. Just my opinion.

I just got back from a trip and saw the purpose of this thread. I did not read many posts and this is my only comment. A fair amount of people who are not members read posts on the site - hunters and non alike.

I took my name out of my signature line recently. I don't say anything on this site I wouldn't say in public, or to any of you in person. I don't feel a need to be anonymous because of what I say. I took it off because one particular discussion triggered the animal rights folks. They found my land line number, and even though I don't pick up unidentified calls, they started calling in the middle of the night just to wake me, leaving critical messages.

There are lurkers out there for whatever it is worth.

You know what...NO NEED TO EXPLAIN... I went through this a few times on here...Oh what are you hiding ...nothing you say is true....you can't be trust...yadda yadda yadda...

It's called cyber bullying and for a site that is filled with people over they age of 12...is a combination of foolish ...crazy and very sad... so as the saying goes..." Forget about it"......

Sorry if I am being redundant as I haven't read every post.....I am mostly on here with my iPad or phone using tapa talk...so I don't see the recent topics in the same way as the regular web version. I just logged onto the website on my work desk top in my office...and low and behold....then recent topics come up. I clicked on the setting on the recent topic header and turned them off.....it took less than 30 seconds.

This seems like an easy solution .....
