I will gladly pay any import tax if America can compete with goods from manufacturing at least on our own turf. It is one of the prime things that used to make America great in the first place.. I don't need half the shit my wife buys anyways. Go Trump!

Well, first of all there is damn little that you can buy that is truly made completely, 100%, made in America. Second, we have adopted an attitude of profits first and quality second, where some foreign manufacturers have found that quality will eventually bring the profits.

As far as cars go, I have always been a long distance commuter, living way out in the sticks. Being left along the side of the road at 4:00 am in a snowstorm got old in a hurry. So quality ranks right up high on the list of purchase criteria as far as cars are concerned. Electronics and other trinkets are generally built elsewhere or at least most of their components so "buying American" is not even an option. You can buy things with American brand names, but that does not mean that they have been built by American labor.

In general , yes buying "American " is often harder . But an outdoorsman still can easily buy American made outdoor products. A few I own , tree stands , knives, flashlights , water bottles, guns, and up until Sentry moved to Mexico the safes to keep them all in.

Toss in Redwing boots and some of the Danners.

My Lone Wolf stands, Surefire lights , Benchmade, Spyderco and Stider knives are second to none , many with liftime no questions asked warranties .

Not for hunting but my Allen Edmond shoes ,made in Wisconsin are well made quilty shoes that are recraftable, buy them once wear them for a lifetime . Also I lost count of the number of random women who compliment my shoes, at my age and shape that's worth the price of admission right there!

I make decent money and save what I can for my families future. Hunting, fishing, camping, swimming, archery for the kids, soccer, cloths, rewards for good behavior in school, and CHRISTMAS toys that I often find go untouched after a time are things that COST me a pretty penny for myself and my family.  I ALWAYS look for a deal when shopping and generally get more than decent use out of the things that I buy.

you guys can shout go trump all you want but be prepared for the coming trade wars that tariffs will bring. Prices WILL go up, cost of living will go up, minimum wage will go up, amount of people receiving all those social programs hard line conservatives love to hate will skyrocket further hurting what is really an unsustainable system Americans have been spoiled with all over the country.

from what I have read I find it easy to believe that if trump has his way it will lead to a more isolated expensive, more dangerous world where American influence is reduced.

mind you if another world war happens America being where it is will of course be a bit safer than the rest of the world. but just like before, EVENTUALLY we will be pulled into it.

there is no easy answer but there are other things that can be done to bring jobs back to America before starting a damn trade war. investing in technology and improving education like what they did in I believe was Singapore, they bit the bullet and invested in educational system that got their kids ready for the next generation of industry and they IMPROVED their standing in the world.

it took time to kill American jobs, no one man is gonna be able to be able to FIX it in 4 to 8 years without screwing us in the long run

Did they give any examples of the technology the students were trained in?

cant answer that as I am no education expert, my point was they adjusted to the situation and improved overall. they took a long term solution over a short term quick fix

It's still easy to buy a 100% American made firearm.  How many of you guys own a foreign made gun, that probably cost more than an American made one?

I've got a Browning rifle made in Miroku, Japan.  it was a little more expensive.  understandable though since it's a stainless barrel and action walnut stock, Nikon Prostaff scope came with the package, and it's a Browning.

While I was still working at Xerox, I was asked to fly over to Taiwan to export our technology to their engineers. I refused. And this was happening on a wholesale basis even back in the late 80's. It's not just labor that we are exporting, it is also our bread and butter ..... our own creativity and technical know-how. I refused to go along with that.
