First-light
My neighbors trail cam picture. I think it looks sick, why do you think?
Paula
Yes sick. Can't imagine it will last long Edited July 5, 2016 by Paula
phade
Seeing ribs is one thing. Seeing hips, that's another. Sometimes the light summer coat will play tricks, but this looks extensive. With all of the food around, this could be injury or illness related.

NFA-ADK
They usually do not look like that this time of the year. If that was recent I would say it won't be long before it is gone forever. Hope it is not anything that will spread!

Renegade Hunter
I've seen dogs look extremely malnourished when feeding a litter of pups. Even though they are eating more than enough. Could this be the case for the doe?
growalot
If one were to consider a few things...age of doe when giving birth, # of fawns, experience in nursing and bugs!...deer expend much more energy than we realize fending off biting insects...add internal parasites to the mix...yes getting skinny deer this time of year very possible...but that first pic looks a tad extreme. BTW there is a new hatch of gnats out now...I got swarmed going to close the garden gate last night and they are biting big time....I'm surprised I haven't heard of blue tongue in NYS yet
