OK, the wife wants a smoothie maker for Christmas. She wants one that basically scares the ice into small pieces when you just think of turning it on...lol Well looking and the reviews and online recommendations and it seems like the best ones are about $300-$500 and are in the 2-3.5 horse range. she'd a blender style rather than the type that makes is right in the glass like the Bullet. Has anyone used one that really does a great job and totally crushes the ice?

Nutribullet.  My wife uses it everyday just for smoothies.  It really does a great job.  No need to spend a fortune.  I got it at Costco and it came with a bunch of different sized cups and lids.  I think it cost about $90.  Really easy to clean also.

Can probably pick up a Cuisanart at a great price right now. Don't mind the recall as the blades may break

Wife and daughter use our heavy duty blender to make smoothies all the time. Your blender won't crush the ice ?

Our blender does crush it but it does leave some chunks that won't go up through a straw and clog it up. The suggestion to buy a bigger diameter straw didn't go over well...lol

I did see the ratings. I am actually leaning towards the Ninja 1500 watt.

At Best Buy I can get a 2 year in store replacement for $20. and It has a 72 ounce pitcher for when I get the margarita bug in the summer

I have to get to a store and lay eyes on them though. I haven't seen the Bullet the guys are talking about.

My wife has a Vitamix . That damn thing is powerful ! I bet I could use it for a wood chipper . The only time I use it at all is to grind coffee beans . That only takes a few seconds . The Vitamix is expensive so I never asked how much she paid as my heart probably couldn't take it .

My wife is a health nut and has a smoothie every day using Kale , veggies , and other crap . The color looks like she is drinking a gut shot deer . Thank heavens it doesn't smell !

Bullet is a single serving, but works great.  Won't work well for a margarita party.  Too small.

Let's just say the cost would rival a new gun purchase...lol
