Lol ..... I didn't watch the festivities because they seldom get it right. As far as I am concerned, all they have to do is look at which movie had the highest ticket sales, and send them a trophy. You don't have to wreck a whole night's programming to do that.

I could not be paid to watch, I never watch any award shows especially those of the so called entertainment world, nothing but horse shit and spoiled pompous asses full of themselves, most that whom do not have a clue how regular people in the world actually live their lives.

Actually a vast majority of them did live like regular people, and in fact struggled until they make it big. Many aspiring actors/models work crappy bartending or waiter jobs at odd hours hoping to catch their big break. Most never catch that break and end up middle aged with not much of a career and barely making rent on their crappy apt. So for the ones who do make it big time, good for them. They have a unique skill and ability to perform.

And they are not the ones we see flapping their gums on award shows.

Couldn't care less about any awards ceremony. Unless it's for who caught the biggest fish or shot the biggest buck! Or maybe who walked the farthest to their stand in the worst weather. and stayed out in it the longest. Who took the most kids afield last year? Who won the turkey calling category? Who would win the lifetime achievement award by hunting the most opening days? Now these arwards, I'd watch!

I saw that movie.  It was pretty good and Jeff Daniels is looking much older.

Yes, but for those that do make it, success is like some kind of lobotomy was performed on them. It takes only a short period of time before they begin to believe that they are somehow superior people who need to spread around their liberal, pinko, political crap so that they fit the expectations of their cohorts. That's fine except that they are in our face with that BS constantly and always seem to have the platform to spew their crap in a non-stop fashion. These award shows are just another platform for them to barf-up their left leaning garbage, making them look like the complete idiots that they are. Why would anyone want to waste precious time listening to that. And yet the shows draw enough ratings to continue being in our faces year after year. That is the truly scary part of it all.

I'm not saying I agree with their views but they have to dress and act a certain way. It comes with the territory.

I'd love to not spend money on shoes and dress clothes, but I have to. You have to look the part if you want to be respected.

LOL....Depends what your trying to be respected for?  Many would not give that dressed up style of person the time of day because of how most of that kind carry themselves.

Depends on industry obviously. I'm not talking about a guy in a three-piece suit walking onto a dairy farm. I simply mean you need to dress the part for whatever you do.

I did not watch , but I saw La La land and enjoyed it ! Considering I don't care for musicals that says somethings , I guess .

At work I mentioned I saw it, one guy started to,watch it on his jail broke , Firestick and said as soon as they got, out of their cars on the highway and started to,dance he stopped watching . He said that was not believable ....

I said but you watch Transformers .....

You're right, and it is unfortunate indeed that these people have to create all kinds of intricate facades and are not able to be honest, naturally occurring human beings. But my impression of all of them is that they are as phony as a three dollar bill. Each one of them is some kind of manufactured cartoon version of themselves. And then they try to lecture us on events and conditions of the world. I sure don't need an annual TV show to expose myself to that kind of arrogance and phony posturing. What they get from most is not respect, but at best, simple tolerance.
