Mountain lion was wild!

Now why do you think a cat couldn't manage his way thru some narrow crossings between Montreal and Lake Ontario?  From Quebec into the portion of Ontario around Ottawa and then into NYS??  I don't see this as an impossibility for an animal.

Especially in the winter when large sections except for the channel are frozen

I read an article a couple years ago that the moose came from canada and crossed the St Lawrence when it was frozen.

If you guys truly want to know the story behind this lion I guess I will tell you guys.  What happened was Obama being in fear of not being able to reach a budget agreement and getting the debt ceiling raised to meet his spending spree before the country defaults decided he needed a more aggressive democrat by his side durin his trying times.  So he sent a carrier pigeon out to south dakota to get a message across this particular mountain lion that is a well known aggresive democrat that has even spread his democrat shit arond in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Once this Mountain Lion read the message that Obama sent him he imediately set out on foot to provide his assistance.  Once he hit NY he got very confused after the long journey did not know which way to turn to reach DC.  So being set in the ways a democrat Lion is he decided that the best choice was to take the same path everytime he comes to this predicament and turns left.  Now while this lion is wandering across the northeast John Boehner finds out about Obamas plan and decides to take a quick trip up to Conneticut to stop this lion before he realizes he has taken a wrong turn and finds him in Milford.  After Boehner debates his views over and over with the mountain lion he comes to the conclusion that the mountain lion does not and will not agree with his plan.  The Mountain Lion turns and walks away and thats when Boehner jumped in his car in rage that he cannot fathom the thought that the lion cannot agree with him and proceeds to run the mountain lion over ending his journey. ???

Great another predator to worry about snatching our kids out of the back yard. With all the Bears and Yotes around my daughter doesn't get to go outside unless im right there as it is. Now we have to worry about nomadic cats too, just peachy. I have an Idea lets clone a few Allosaurus Fragilis release them into the wild and see what kind of havoc they can reap to. :)  Stupid environmentalists couldn't leave good enough alone, there's a reason they were trapped into almost extinction you know.  >:)

I doubt that Cat was from South Dakota. All it proves is that it's genologocial DNA came from South Dakota, It could have still e somebody's pet gotten loose or let go.

We all been hunting a long time. If there were Mountain Lions in New York, we all be finding tracks and scat. And no one has ever found any. And no proof to be found on all those thousands of trail cameras out there either.

I'll be honest with you, I have never found bear scat, or tracks around my area either until the three nights in a row when we had our garbage strewn up through the woods and our bird feeder turned into trash. And I have not seen bear tracks or scat since in the area. So if it were not for the quasi-domestic nature of bears and the obvious damage that they like to leave in people's yards, I would be swearing that bears did not exist here. I'm thinking that with a mountain lion being even more secretive, and perhaps even more of a long distance wanderer than a bear, it probably would take an unbelievable amount of coincidence to ever run across any sign of their passing.

I am not ready to admit to the possibility of a reproductive population of mountain lions anywhere in NYS, but I at least listen to people who say they have seen one and apply some guarded credibility to what they think they saw, because I always allow for the possibility of a lone lion (domestic or wild)traveling around on its way to somewhere else.

If that one in Connecticut did indeed come from the Dakotas, he got through an awful lot of states and passed through an awful lot of human population before he gave up the ultimate form of proof of his existance. Whether all these experts are reading the DNA results properly or not, and whether they are applying the proper level of analysis to their logic or not is up to somebody a whole lot better schooled in DNA science than me to figure out. I guess I won't be arguing their findings ..... lol. Well, I guess I can argue, but probably nobody would listen ..... :)

So a dead wild mountain lion isn't good enough you want tracks and scat?

A dead one in Ct that most likely wandered in from a considerable distance is not any type of proof of there being a breeding population in NY or anywhere in the northeast.

But it is proof of a wild mountain lion which many laugh at the thought. Face it if someone said they saw a mountain lion you didn't believe it. Now you want breeding population. No one ever said there was a breeding population only if they saw or heard about a mountain lion that was sighted.
