I got to talking back and forth with the DEC officer about how the stores are allowed to sell the stuff. Apparently, it used to be the law that they had to post signs explaining that it is illegal to use for wild deer, trail cams or hunting, but the law was repealed a couple of years ago. That explains why a couple of years ago, places like Gander Mountain started carrying more of the crap. I tell ya, this state just doesnt make sense.

Boy my Gander in Cicero (Syracuse burb) has been very disappointing lately. For the past year the store has been like half empty. I was there the other day looking for a camping stove, I had almost 200 bucks in Gander cards in my pocket and left the store empty handed. They had less stoves on display than The Sports Authority. Where I ended up getting my second choice stove, a Coleman 1/2 burner 1/2 grill model. Gander did have that one but it was $99 it was $89 at SA plus 20% off all Coleman special then pulled their 15% off coupon online so it cost me $62. $37 dollars cheaper. SA had 8 grill choices and Gander had 4 or 5?

Not sure why but they stock half of what they used to here.

Reminds me of a story from when I was working at Dick's. Customer comes in and asks me if we have timed feeders. I told her, "No, Dick's decided not to carry baiting supplies in NY stores because it's illegal to use here." Instead of "Ok thanks anyway," she got real defensive and screamed across the lodge, "Did I ask you about the law? Are you a cop? No you're just an idiot retail employee so just shut the **** up and answer questions!"

Ordinarily I'd have been mad but I didn't even know how to react to this one before she stormed out lol.

I brought a pair of DANNER hunting boots at the Middletown Gander Mtn. $199.00. I go home, go online to Gander Mtn and Danner. $189.00 !!!! Gander charges more in stores, than online !! and I can order direct from the manufacturer for even less !!!! So I took the boot back, and ordered them from DICKs.
