Thats a "trophy" goby.  I think that guy probably got big by eating a buncha small ones.

Thanks God they don't get bigger... they would be fun to catch, but they would eat everything.

Had a great day on Saratoga Lake. Put a bunch of LM bass in the boat. A light chop, made boat position a bit harder, fishing main lake structure. But it also helped with the bite.

Only got an hour on the lake after dinner tonight but was fortunate for this fatty...tackle box is 16"...also had two loons pop up behind me and while taking picture had a bald eagle fly over. Both are in the shot but, you can't really tell what either is. The black dot middle left is eagle and two black dots on the water are the loonsd47435b4e42cb6495daaa6c318f798ca.jpg0ddc7f15e8f804063f27bf43bcfbc55b.jpg3befe120fcce789063dcad5fc0cd900e.jpg10ec5f85bde168ee264e82d3fb1bc950.jpg

Tacks.....my people tell me “You should go in the 30's  between the round house and the weather buoy and just jig crawlers“.

Thank me later.

We didn’t love the marine forecast so I hit a stream. Fish rising everywhere but you need to be there early with this heat 98bee1176a6db028e6cc876b7058510a.jpg7cefd8824c270d23e15ede553ee6d913.jpgb3476d06a0d026faccfb8b541514639d.jpg8337c7dcbbc726f29b55968a46771ba6.jpga936b69cd3c6a4690afca3c128b4338b.jpg

No fishing tonight but still on the water. Really hot this afternoon so we just swam and floated and drank and ate and drank.5405912666aa48b4f11b75ddd55f4db7.jpg&key=e4e41a0efbaddbe19a44827f0b41da32282eb4d1e53c1ecd576e0e87329513cc

I'm going to swim a stickbait around one of the walleye holes in my local river this morning for an hour or so...

After that, I'll take my screen and hoe and see if I can catch a few dobson, my favorite summer bait for bass and perch....

Lake erie gets tougher when it gets warm but that is my favorite time on the upper Niagara.  You just got to find a deep enough spot with current and you will find plenty of big smallies.  The growth rates have got great since the gobbies came along.

I have found them  on Erie on occasion then but it is much easier to do farther from Buffalo.  Heading south from Dunkirk is best.  There are larger concentrations of bass down there where they don't see as much pressure from cormorants and people.  The bigger ones usually suspend.  They are fun but not as good eating.  I often have to deal with them while trying to get my bait down to the smaller, tastier ones below.

What a run. Not fishing this am as it's pouring. But have fished every weekend without rainout or getting blown off the lake all spring and summer.  Day off today ,maybe order some tackle and spinners...

I caught my biggest smallie ever out of that port about 15 years ago - 23" long.   That was too big to eat so I let it go.

This was at Dunkirk a few weeks ago, full report earlier in thread lol. Caught a ton of smallies and rockies. I just found this thing in my truck. I told my friend to leave it there, it looks important and someone might be back but apparently he didnt listen

The Nitro was not an option outside the wall on Lake Erie this morning with whitecaps so hugged the inside. Fishing was tough. Managed to beat out the owner of the boat which doesn’t happen often as he’s up front and on the trolling motor. Cheerios smelled good from General Mills 199d39e97f891c30cca6e1b6ca68b19a.jpg
