CV 19 Realized Gains?

Saving money on gas since I mostly keep the truck parked and drive my wife's small SUV. Saving money from not bowling anymore, we had 4 weeks left when this all hit. So far I haven't spent any money on golf, waiting to pay for my Monday night league until we know when we can start. At the May 15th mark that will be 4 weeks missed. I haven't paid for my season golf pass for the same reason but if the courses open May 15th honestly not much golf will have been missed. 
The biggest gain is family time. We are taking full advantage of the situation and doing some quality family time. Dinner and a movie night's, board games, card games, I'm teaching my 9 year old how to cook and do some house maintenance. Heck even my daughters are having sister bonding time unforced by us!

We've saved at least 5 weeks of daycare, probably 200 in gas,  I know my wife is saving at least 50 a week on food.  Eating better!  I've had quiche 3 times in the past 2 weeks.  My smoking is way down, can't smoke around the family.  If I wasn't such an asshole I'd just quit.

That patch works great !

One nice thing that I realized is that telemarketers must not be considered “essential workers”, because I haven’t gotten an unsolicited call in several weeks! Almost miss it, cause I’m bored not F’n with them when they call!

Fully Agree …. I smoked for 40 years and did the Patch thing for 7-8 weeks and it worked !   Worth a try !

I enjoy doing that also.  Often, I will answer those calls while attempting to speak a foreign language like German (which I am not at all fluent in).  I only know a few words (like submarine and hello).     Other times, when they ask for money, I try to get them excited by asking if there is any upper limit on how much I could invest.   I try to keep the conversations going as long as possible, if I am doing something constructive around the house, only "feeding" them enough words to keep the conversation going.    That way they can't use that time pestering someone else.

I think about the nearly 40,000 families that have lost loved ones due to SARS. - Covid 19 viruses. I think of the 100 of thousands of first responders, doctors, nurses, and health care workers that are putting their lives on the line, so we all will have a better life and fight this invisable enemy.

I don't have any gains in times like these;  just thankful and dam happy to have my family wake up healthy every morning.
