last 3 days been seeing Toms everywhere.  Fields, crossing roads etc

I set up a cam in my local spot to try and pattern a tom. I roosted him in the same tree he spent almost all of last May in (Assuming its the same bird anyway)

I've been seeing solitary birds the last few days too, Rob....An indication that the winter feeding flocks are dispersing and the hens are staking out their nesting areas...

Just a little while ago I had a hen take flight out of a ditch and flew across Rt. 5 in Lakeview.....she barely cleared the windshield of my truck.

Hopefully the birds will be around on opening day. Funny how they just disappear when 5/1 comes around.

I'd shoot the bird on the left. His head's up higher. I think he's in range. Have to pick up the spent wad off the neighbor's lawn after I shot em though lol. Great pics. 

I think they're starting to break up. Saw big flocks last week but mostly two's and three's this week. We'll see where they end up in a few more days.

Actually the bird on the right is the dominant one. It would be to easy to kill em. They spend the majority of the day in my yard.

You're fortunate to see them up close when you can. Interesting that we can see, watch and admire them from 5 ft but having them inside 30 yrds with a gun in your hands is a totally different experience. People who dont hunt turkeys dont understand. It is a sickness lol. 

Once again, great pics. The one on the left still has his head up. Dominant or not his time is up and he's coming home w me.

Past few days I've been seeing lone hens quite a bit.  Definitely laying. Don't think there setting in my area yet, but it's not going to be long.

I'd shoot the one on the right every time....Beard looks heavier, fan looks bigger, and the one spur I can see looks like a good one...  And his head is up PLENTY far enough....Hehehe...

I am stoked about opening day. I'm not a turkey hunter and only tried a few times. I took a few hikes on our lease about a month ago, each one after a fresh snow. I was able to confirm their roosting area and travel each time. Hopefully not too much has changed in the last month, but they seem to be in the same area they were in during deer season. I'm going down to set up a blind this weekend.

Getting pumped, first youth weekend with my daughter.  Going with a new friend Enigma who was nice enough to open his hunting spot for my daughter to help her get on a bird.  Saturday isn't getting here fast enough.  Usually don't get excited about turkey hunting but I am for this one.

Dusting of snow this morning.  Cold and windy, but on my short drive back from a pruning job I saw 4 toms in 3 different spots.  The big flocks appear to be breaking up.  I have had a lone hen feeding in my little food plot at the house for the past week or so.  Hard to believe it's almost here.  I went through my gear and conditioned some pot calls.  Found a mixture of ammo. 8 rounds total.  I'm all set except for spraying down some cammies with permethrin.  Good luck to all.

Pygmy, you're just splitting beard hairs now. I pull my shots to the right so lefty is getting the hammer. Rat needs to invite us down to chase them around the block w spit guns. We'll measure the spurs when we catch them. I'll hold the tape . . .

I'm this day and age, I can see a FB post making some thinking this was a way to lure a youth into something evil.  Not saying that was your intentions, but look at it from someone who doesn't know you.

However, anyone willing to accompany you into the turkey woods would be a lucky individual. 

I've reached out to everyone I know.  Some have very experienced family that are taking them out.  Some don't want anyone involved. They think the memory will by tainted if others are involved in the first harvest. They want the memory to be them and their kid. Kinda like their kids first fish.  

Some first time turkey hunter will have to do. @Liquidoxix.

I managed to call one of those up, lol   Only hope I can show him enough to want to keep at it. Bonus would be to get him on a gobbler.
