Thursday morning my hunting partner (The Iceman) and I are heading south on our semi- annual pig hunt.

We hunt on a deer/turkey lease in southeastern Georgia, on invitation of a member of that lease.

It's right along the Georgia/Alabama border , south of Ft. Benning, near a little town named Lumpkin.

It ain't a canned hunt or a slam dunk...We work hard for our piggies.. Some years we kill 2 or 3, some years we don't... All the hogs there are wild and free ranging.

However, it is a nice break from the cold weather, and if we have a good hunt, we bring home some good wild pork..

I think I'm gonna hunt with my Garand M-1 this year..Might be interesting if I get into a bunch of them... hehehehe..

PICTURES PLEASE!!

What bullets in the Garand? Recovered bullets garner extra points.

PICTURES PLEASE!!

Travel safe & good luck!

Nothing fancy in the M-1, Lawdwaz....

I have used Win. 150 grain power points, and currently have loaded some 150 Hornady boat tails that I got in a bullet trade here online from Bubba. 47 grains of H4895 gives me around 2700 FPS, supposedly duplicating the load the Garand was developed for. I've never chrony'd them, but they shoot better than I can hold with the issue peep sights. Plenty good enough for MOH ( minute of hog) at woods ranges. The furthest I've ever had a shot one down there was about 50 yards.

I'll take pictures for sure, and some one of these days I'll join the 21st century and learn how to post them online.

After that, you'll probably get tired of looking at my ruddy little face and s*** eating grin...

That's ME alright, Steve, except The Mermaid doesn't like facial hair, so she made me shave...

Oh well...She's the one that controls the....er....well... Let's just say that the person who controls the "personal parts" calls the shots...

Thanks, All...

I'm getting my stuff packed today..Just put 2 rifles and ammo into my double hard gun case.

We're leaving 4:00 AM tomorrow morning...Hope we don't run into a lot of snotty weather on the way down. Hopefully, once we get south of PA we'll be in the clear..
