Deer processor in the Finger Lakes

Hi there, the place I have been taking my deer for processing the past 10 years or so is not accepting deer this year.  This was Silver Creek Custom Meats in Waterloo, NY.  Looking for any recommendations of anything local or even with a half hour of Seneca Falls/Geneva area?  I see Pro Cut in Bloomfield gets high praise here but its over 45 minutes to get there.  Not the worst but if there is anything closer I would like to save a lot of time over the years.

Thanks as always for the help,

Geez, I've been taking my meat there for years! UGH...

I just checked out their Facebook page. Looks like they're just not accepting whole deer carcasses. Still accepting deboned meat for processing though. I always cleaned and deboned my own deer, before dropping the meat off to them for processing anyways.

Larrys Deer Processing in Avon maybe even farther.

Better option learn to do it yourself and save some money.

Thanks, yes Avon would be tough.  Thanks for the tip, did my own for a lot of years it's not a lack of knowledge. With the age of my kids/their sports schedules and the things I like done with the meat I choose to take my time back in this case.

Yeah I feel bad for them, they did a ton of deer every year so it had to be a tough decision.  That's the post I saw as well, and I can go that route if I absolutely have to but I would like to drop it off whole.

Thanks for the tip!  Dropped my son's deer off there this morning, super nice guy and looking forward to trying some of the snacks.  Will post back with results when I get everything back.

Hot dogs are very good.  Snack sticks with the cheese & jalapeño are awesome.  My next door neighbor brought a doe there last week.  Kept the tenderloins and blackstraps.  Had everything else made into those snack sticks.  Lol.  Kielbasa was also very good.  Will do with the cheese and jalapeño this year if I get one.

Anyone hear rumors about why these lager deer processors are not doing whole deer any more? Wonder if it's lack of employees, strict DEC regs, less money than farm animals, etc...? Know last year when I was looking around, one place said there was an abundance of beef & pork butchering scheduled. So, I'm assuming it's a $$ thing.

Maybe a NYS health inspection rule?

I know one of our larger processor around here wouldn't take dead deer for a time. You could bring in meat or live deer due to regulations. Live deer were difficult to get there. ;)

The shop mainly butchers livestock and they have to be taken in alive..

They are taking whole deer again,  I'm not sure what they have done differently to allow this..

I knew several. Combination of lack of employees, farm animal backlogs (some out nearly a year) and the crap attitude of a certain % of deer customers. Just not worth it.
