Thats the way to live life- to the fullest, till the bitter end. Bet he was a hell of a guy!! Prayers sent to his family and friends.

Wake is in Maryland. Waiting for details. One hell of a guy. 91 still getting it done running his backhoe. Nicest guy you ever would meet. There was a gun raffle in Canisteo a few weeks ago. He was going to be there but could not get a ride up. Boy I wish he made that. The whole family was there. He would hunt his property opening day through Wednesday. On his last day he would come over to my place and hunt my honey hole. Don't you know more than not he would shoot a buck on that day. Just got home from work. Going to jump on the tractor and mow my fields and think about him. oh one last story......he lost three fingers when he was a kid to a plater. Got stuck in the gears. He did fine without them. He actually joined the Navy but kicked him out when they found out he had only three fingers on one hand. RIP my friend! Thank you guys!

I'm sure a lot of fond memories . He did what he loved doing; good for him right into his 90's. That's the way to live! Wishing his family prayers.

I’m out now , windy, haven’t seen or heard a thing in days it’s gonna be tough from here till season ends I think I had a long beard on my cam a few days ago , all alone not sure if I should hang it up until fall

Last weekend was a fishing weekend with a buddy visiting up from PA, but off work today, and back at it. All quiet so far but we'll see. Good luck to all out here this morning.

He fell off a ladder at 91 years old. Top guy at camp and stayed out all day long opening day. I l,ove him as well as his family that live next to me. Poke enjoy hunting in heaven! on the left!

Bear in my backyard this morning ...

I believe the local hens have started sitting and incubating their eggs, I see them singly out in fields for a few minutes getting a quick bite to eat and disappearing back to their nests, the Toms are wandering around by themselves. Al

Pompey Rod & Gun Club isn't too far away - about 30 minutes to the North or so. I'm only a couple miles away but didn't take advantage of this hidden gem until a couple of years ago. I'm there pretty regularly now with my kids shooting pistols, muzzleloaders, rifles, etc. They are planning to add a dedicated pistol range sometime this year, I believe. $50/year for a family membership.

Funny but my brother just moved there sunday. He was from Long Island and has 3 college rentals there. Took over one of the smaller places for himself. He loves to fish maybe I can hook you guys up? Good luck!

We just moved to Cortland. Our family is from there, so I am pretty familiar with the town in general, but never previously lived there. Anyone recommend a safe but mellow shooting club nearby? My main thing is traditional black powder shooting, but also centerfire and some handgun. Also looking for recommendations for local waters for pan fish/pike fishing, that arent crazy busy to launch at. Thanks!

When I worked in a trauma center, every fall we would have several hunters with (usually pretty severe) injuries from tree stand falls/collapses. Spines, hips, pelvis fx, skull fractures....the arms and legs you dont worry about... Metal ones are much safer, but change those ratchet straps regularly...and only when someone is holding the stand!
