Just thought I'd share pics of this awesome gobbler that my uncle killed yesterday. He never gobbled on the roost but came running out onto the field to pick a fight with B-Mobile. Not a bad bird to tag out with on the final day of the 2013 season. The stats: 19 lbs, 1 1/4" spurs and 28" of beard (10, 9 5/8, 8 3/8).

I hope they bull doze the existing store and build new, no sense in doing a half ass job. I can't even begin to imagine the traffic NIGHTMARE they will have on Walden! I won't miss Gander Mountain............

What's better than sitting around a campfire drinking beer? How bout swinging around a campfire drinking beer.. haha Just finished hanging the swings on my latest project this morning. Can't wait for my next evening off to give her a trial run.

A few years ago I wanted to make sure I'd have a back up in case my battery in the Jeep died at camp. Well, that never happened but if so it would be a long walk down a dirt road to any kind of civilization. I have an interest in solar and installer background so it didn't take long to realize and use the potential of solar energy. Quiet power, reserve power, no noisy genney running or extra fuel required, no fumes. The price of lantern fuel is nutz, & what 6$ for a set of 1lb propane canisters. Then there's ice - what's that have to do with anything - well there's the cost and a few bags of ice will only last so long. The solar system eliminates the ice issue, no more soggy foods, gone is the extra plastic & metal trash. The older I get, I've found the more that bothers me. Anyhow if you got 10 minutes - enjoy.

Just a reminder to those of you with school age children...Send a certified letter to the school stating that in the event that your child is called into the principals office...or needs to be "questioned" about ANYTHING...even something involving another student...they are NOT to be spoken to until YOU and or your spouse have been called and are present. Make sure you tell your kids...to be respectful but say they need their parents to be called and not say a word... no matter what they are told by school officials or police. Now some may think this is extreme,but believe me it is not!....

Maby the email i sent cabelas begging them to come to ny helped us! lol

Thanx Water Rat..In my log I wrote every detail.. VERY DRAMATIC..(It's an Italian thing).. I left out one part that I hate to admit to.. Here's my confession.. My wife immediately knew that it was a rattler by the sound.. and just before I saw it, I told her that SHE was wrong.. I didn't expect to see one there and didn't equate the noise with a snake so I walked a few steps towards the noise and almost stepped on it's head.. It's tail was 5'(actually 5'3") away from it's head, which is where I was looking... Some great woodsman I was.. HA !!! I HATE admitting that, but that's "the rest of the story"...We still laugh about it

I have never seen an actual venomous snake, and I would really just as soon not. I don't even like non-venomous snakes for the most part.

Very cool! I don't care for snakes up close but they are cool to watch. I respect them as wild creatures, these ones just command that respect due to their nasty bite and venom! Killing an animal out of dislike is nonsense and has no place in our sport.

I would have shot that snake with every shell I had on me.....I hate snakes and that thing is huge...

When I see it I'll believe it. Some politician will get in the way.
