  1. I won’t get out again this week up my land in 6k before I leave for Illinois on Friday for a week. Still stressing over leaving the office for a week of hunting but I owe it to my nephew to do this trip with him. Its a bucket kist hunt. We have had 15-20 does and young bucks out in the plots at the same time on our 3 hunts. Last picture is of a big 6 I am considering taking. Third year he has been a 6 and I love big 6s. We have 2 nice 8s that I think will get a pass this year. Its just my wife snd me on the 160 acres we bought 3 years ago. No one hunts the 7-800 or more surrounding acres. We are trying to see what potential we have to grow some big deer.

  3. Something I am always watching out for on my outdoors equipment especially knives and firearms. Have been using a product called CorrosionX that has given my stuff outstanding protection. I used Frog Lube paste for years and that is pretty good, but I like this product better. I have some Carbon steel knives that the blades will rust in a heartbeat, been using this CorrosionX and it has worked like a charm. Also have a couple of bead blasted finishes on firearms that like to hold moisture, this CorrsionX bonds well to those types of finishes. I put a lot of dough into my equipment and this product is fairly cheap insurance that it stays nice. Al CUTS THROUGH STUBBORN BORE DEPOSITS for easier, more thorough cleaning. Shields bore from powder residue, primer salts and metal particle buildup. STICKS TO METAL LIKE A MAGNET, so it cannot be displaced by moisture, friction or extreme pressures. Lubricates better and longer than other gun oils – virtually eliminating wear and providing flawless action. 3X THE ANTI-WEAR PROTECTION of MilSpec CLPs. Nearly 2X the load carrying capacity of Mil Spec CLPs. FAMOUS CORROSIONX RUST PREVENTION. Best-on-class Durability. Molecular Level Cleaning. STOPS CORROSION and rust – even in the rain!

  4. With the threat of temperatures rising to close to 70 degrees over the next couple days the pressure was on to get my deer cut up as quickly as possible. After my first and very hectic day back to work yesterday I immediately got to work on it when I got home. I never even ate dinner yesterday. With my wife doing the canning we got 7 quarts done. There is another close to 7 quarts to can this morning. I have several pounds cut and ready to make jerky tonight, and the hind quarters and back straps in the freezer temporarily. It looks like I beat the warm weather buzzer.

  5. Be proactive. Get the word out now that you and your other lessee's have zero tolerance for BS. Check your lease rights again for what actions you can take and what your legal authority is. The sooner everyone understands the new situation and that you're not too be screwed with the better. Sounds like you have several options to get the word out. Use them now. Lay the foundation today. When the time comes to purchase it'll be easier. Unsolicited advice, sorry. But I've been to that dance too many times. Hunting private land as a guest, lessee on several properties, owned several properties. Hunting makes people stupid. Don't let it ruin your good times afield.

  6. No sightings between 3 hunters. One of the hunters jumped one on the way out to meet with me that was all the excitement tonight. It was an absolutely beautiful evening in the woods still. Sent from my moto g power (2022) using Tapatalk

  7. Hit the southern zone yesterday bow hunting /// My partner dropped a nice 7 pointer /// Of course we're both "old school" and neither of us has a smart phone so we couldn't take a photo to post here /// We quit at noon and came back to my barn where we spent (5) hours butchering the prize /// The meat was just beautiful and we cooked a few steaks with onions and olive oil on my wood stove while we cut the meat /// Next move is the Jessup River Wild Forest for the remainder of the season ///And remember: It's not about the kill - It's about the Adventure

  8. Saw a lone doe walking through the pines, I gave a few grunts on the tube and I hear a crashing sound coming towards me, never knew he was there. He was not happy with the trespasser I guess.

  10. Got the replacement Halo X50 back into service and although the picture resolution sucks on this scope and it's going back to the factory for that issue, it's accurate enough to drop yotes. 14. In a safe location....does it extract live shells (or fired/empty shells) individually? I had a similar problem with a used 870 I bought. New extractor did the trick. Whenever I have to order a new part I always order two....usually postage is as much as the durn part, and if it broke once.... I keep the spare extractor in the butt stock screw hole well greased in paper.

  17. Pickled vegatables yesterday with my "crew". Mom n dad are getting older, slowing down quite a bit, but they love to help us do the work to put food away. 14 quarts, 3 pints pickled vegetables (cauliflower, celery and carrots). 2 quarts, 1 pint pickled brussel sprouts. 4 pints pickled leeks. 1 pint bell peppers, 1 pint hot peppers. 4 pints pickled red onions.

  20. Here’s how it went down this morning. I posted on this site I was headed for my stand. The drive up the hill on my wheeler had to be slow because water was being thrown everywhere from all the rain. Still, from the house it takes little time for me to drive up, walk to my stand and settle. I was in and just ready at 7:05 when my phone started ringing from my wife’s phone which is totally not like her. I didn’t know if it was her or my grandson playing with her phone so I called them back. I was talking as quiet as possible and they were not responding so I hung up and texted them at 7:06. My wife responded to my text, and we made sure each other was ok, and I asked to not be called again unless it was necessary. As I was putting my phone in my pants pocket without dropping my bow that was in my lap while sitting down, I just glanced up to my left and there is a deer totally broadside standing there. My immediate thought was that it was a big bodied doe, I was without question going to shoot if possible, and being around 20 yards wondered if it had seen me. I never actually looked at its head and instead focused on where I wanted the arrow to hit. The deer just stood there as I raised my bow, aimed and released the shot. I knew immediately it was a good shot because I heard the thwack but not the dreaded crack sound of hitting a shoulder. I was pretty sure it was a pass through shot. The deer bolted about 30 or 40 yards uphill and just stood there. Then for one of the few times of my bow hunting experiences the deer went down in view. At 7:13 I texted my wife I just shot a big doe and had it down. When I climbed down and went to the deer I discovered it actually was a spike on side presenting to me and a fork on the opposite.

  25. So you guys know I leased 70 acres across the road from me. We are in it to buy when the time is right. The guys we took it from were from the next town over. We really never cared for them, nor did the neighbors. Shooting after dark, alcohol in the woods and on. It has all been going fine until today. Hopefully this was a one time thing but I hear a car way down the road horn blaring. He just drives all the way to the end of lease baring the horn. Then drives off. I recognized the car and knew it was them. I was in a stand where I could see the road. I'm sure it was the youngster of the bunch and he got it out of his system. I have their old posted sign name and address. Partners in my lease are a NYS Trooper Detective and a Suffolk County Detective. If it keeps up they will get a visit! I get that they must be upset they lost the lease but they were paying 1k for 70 acres. Got to stay with the times and offer the going rate or owner will take other offers. Didn't see anything today think it was the horn??? lol
