  1. My sons patience ran out 13 minutes before the legal end of youth, does were over a knob in the field. Rainy and getting dark, We made the move and he 10 ringed a smaller doe at 150 yards. She ran right to us and died 50 yards away with both front shoulders essentially useless.

  2. Ha-ha-ha-ha.....I'm more paranoid than you. My feet don't leave the ground while hunting.....ever anymore. I came down out of the trees quite a few years ago. It's a "heights" thing. My last tree stand was a 5' x 5' platform only 12 feet off the ground, and a railing all the way around. Eventually even all that wasn't enough and I found that I could not shoot my bow while both arms were wrapped around the tree. No I don't do tree stands anymore, and I'm actually more excited about hunting when I am on the ground, eyeball to eyeball with the deer. Yes, hunting from the ground is a bit of a handicap, but it does increase the challenge and the excitement. And I don't have to worry about lifelines.

  3. Did an afternoon hunt in Geneseo from 3 - 7 pm . It was pretty quiet . Around 4:30 4 doe came from behind me in the gully lot . My scent had to be blowing their way but they didn't appear to be alarmed . They went back the way they had come from and a few minutes later returned . They then crossed over and went into the corn not to be seen again . Later they were in the corn behind my grandson and got spooked . The they had come by me is about 35 yards when they were in the corn . No shots .

  4. I’m super paranoid so I’m harnessed and hooked to a lifeline before my feet leave the ground. Then I’m also hooked to a tree strap as soon as I’m seated. I see lots of guys that don’t use lifelines for ladder stands

  5. Was out driving around and noticed a lot of deer on the move in the rainy weather. Was coming up my road and saw this, she stayed long enough to give me a great picture. I may have this one framed and put in the bunk house. On a side not we did a lot of driving yesterday to West Point and back. I just noticed an alarming amount of road kill. These animals are moving about so be careful.

  6. Definitely use a lifeline each and every time I leave the ground regardless of stand type. I’ve fallen 2x and not doing it again.

  7. It all sounds kind of treasonous to me. Kind of makes you wonder what countries they are working for. It certainly isn't the U.S.

  8. Got my pack basket setup pretty well and it should work out OK, I like the plastic buckets because they can be washed out and they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the fiberglass pack baskets. The harness holds all my tools and lures-baits as it has a pouch built in. I think this thing can be used for a bunch of other activities like fishing and camping if desired. Al

  11. They want more illegal aliens, inflation, crime, open borders, weak military, loss of gun rights, restriction on free speech, corrupt justice dept and a lot more. That is why the sheep vote for more of it. They want it.

  15. I do not care how anyone votes , but I'm thinking that every time I see a Harris / Walz sign on a lawn there should also be a " Future Home for Illegals " sign on that same lawn ..... that's what they're Voting for correct ? Or is that way too Logical ?

  17. So here we are 3 months after my original post. Things getting better people? Are you all feeling safer? Still want to not talk about sad or depressing realities? For those who fall in the let’s ignore it camp you can keep your head in the sand and scroll past this thread. For those who are awake and honest I would ignore the recommendations from those to “not talk about it”. With family gatherings this time of year for holidays like Thanksgiving, it is in my opinion the exact time to think and talk about where we are now, where we are headed, how we got here, and how to correct course if it is possible. As uncomfortable as it may be, I think the discomfort will pale in comparison to what we may face in the near future if we do not acknowledge the reality of what is going on in this country and the world as a whole. The unthinkable and unimaginable does happen, as current events and history has shown us. So I would urge people to think, imagine the possibilities, and talk to each other at every opportunity. Do not let masks real or imagined shut you up, or hatred cloud your judgement or guide your actions. We have so much more to lose than hunting. Better to speak up and risk having people not want to see or look at you in my opinion, than to remain quiet and not be able to look yourself in the mirror knowing we are on the doorstep of potentially losing it all.
