Just wondering if anyone here hunts Gobblers in the Shawangunk /Gardner regions, towns like Wallkill, Pine Bush, Walden, Crawford, Cragsmor. Like to know what you guys might be seeing, including last deer season turkey sightings and so far this spring. Not looking to move in on anyone's areas just a general consensus of numbers.

Upcoming Legislation Changes email from NDA
Gobbler Chaser replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Problem with posting crossbow legislation alerts on this forum is you alert just as many anti crossbowers who will quickly follow suit and shoot off emails too. Better off keeping it on Facebook groups like NYCC. The antis get weeded out and booted there. -

Good for them, they have their ups and downs. They work hard too

Why Are Wild Turkey Populations Diminishing?
Gobbler Chaser replied to Grouse's topic in Turkey Hunting
I'm hoping the warm weather will shake things up. I will have my ears open even with the lack of any other turkey evidence. -

That's really nice. And a manageable build since it's not 20 feet up. Good concealment makes up for the lower height. Great ideas. -

Yea after not seeing a single bird last bow or gun deer season and not seeing any turkey tracks in the snow last couple months I pretty much plan on starting spring projects around my property early this spring. Terrible around here in lower Ulster. -

I've been pondering this for some time now going on 66. I'm still able bodied but seem less willing to get injured now, brains comes with age I guess. Thinking of reducing my ladder stands down to a safer height, maybe 9 feet and getting creative with additional brushing in. Also looking at possibly going the total ground blind route. -
He will have to think about prison time every time he's in the woods with a weapon now, and ending up broke paying legal fees. On the bright side, hunting stories probably go over big in the slammer, LOL

Years back alot of us including me feared that hunter number reduction would kill the sport. But I have to say it seems to have made it better. Long seasons, lots of deer, and less hunters doesn't really bother me that much. Ad AR to this over the last decade and I'm seeing bigger bucks every year. I know several hunters who've moved to other states and the seasons are unbelievably short. Bummer.

Covid round two!

You display ignorance when you can't defend your statements and then immediately start name calling. -
It's gotten really bad around me in lower Ulster county. Think I was out once last spring. Nothing around here. Completely gone and they were crawling all over my property 5-7 years ago. I didn't see any during deer season so that tells me there's not a lot to look forward to this spring. Sucks, I just keep hoping they'll come back as quickly they disappeared

Covid round two!

Not exactly. Last I checked it was the GOP thats been pushing free market society ideals. You know corporate rights and reduction in regulation, and those pesky little things are all things Republicans champion. I think corporations and businesses should be regulated. I know I have you confused now. -
Covid round two!
Gobbler Chaser replied to Cory's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Actual death rate in the US is about 1.4% . With Covids very high transmission rate that's a big number when your talking millions of people. This 1.4% is the fatality number and does not reflect the people who spend weeks and months in the hospital requiring care. -

Its a companies right to fire you for not being vaxxed. This is part of living in a free market society. You have the right to seek other employment. -

If you don't want the vaccine don't get it. What's all the fuss. Nobody is coming to your house to hogtie you and shoot you with the vax. -

I'm vaxxed with the booster and had it a couple weeks back. Felt off with slight fever and woke up the third day like I never had it. Quicker than most colds I've had -
Wouldn't use one in the deer woods. Duck hunting, Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies only
