  1. Get on the DEC deer take by county site. Some good info on deer kill. Think it even breaks it down by DMPs if I'm not mistaken
  2. Wish this snow cover would have held off till tomorrow. Would love to do some tracking with the smoke pole. Supposed to wash away tomorrow
  3. Can't lose sight. Hunting and not seeing crap or someone else getting that buck you've hunted all season is still better than what alot of guys discribed here with losing loved ones. I'm just glad to be able to head out into the woods. It's more than just a sport
  4. If we had snow cover we could do some track hunting and pop one getting up out of a daytime bedding spot. Not easy but possible
  5. Im with you there. Just bagged a nice meat doe on Sunday. Plan on doing a couple nice sits right after Christmas
  6. The nights are longer. Yep they'll be more nocturnal. But with cold weather and hunting pressure easing you'll still see them during daylight. I can't believe some hear complaining the hunting season is to long, LMAO!
  7. Prime is Prime and is hard to beat. 20$ lb is about average. I've had some terrific Angus Beef rib roast from my Local Hannaford for around 10$ lb.
  8. NY has one of the longest deer seasons in the country. I can put 4 or 5 deer in my freezer if so desired. You can hunt deer for 1/4 of the year here, 3 months, that's a hell of alot longer than most other states. Record book bucks are taken in NY every single yr, and with AR I'm seeing monsters in Ulster that I only could have dreamed of when I started hunting in the 1970s. The articles claim of 15.1 hunters per sq mile sounds skewed. Maybe in some areas during early rifle but I don't buy it and have never seen anything like that. If anything hunter numbers being down in NY has made the sport more enjoyable for many. I remember upstate NY hunting in the 1980, 1970s and it was ridiculous at certain points in the season where you'd see orange in any given direction on state land. Also saying that having to pay for an archery license is a hostile environment is ridiculous. Lots of states charge an additional fee for their archery seasons. With the awesome hunting and long seasons I've enjoyed in this state in my lifetime I feel I get more than my money's worth and would probably pay more if required. Sorry but the article sounds like a sales pitch more than anything else
  9. Man you anti vaxxers don't miss a chance to pound your chests about not getting vaccinated. If you don't want the vaccine so what, don't get it. Almost makes you all look alittle insecure about your choice. I got vaxxed, could care less what anyone else does. Don't need to be reassured by anyone.
  10. When people say my Ash wood is green and doesn't burn well, I tell them give it two weeks
  11. 90% of the firewood I sell is Ash. Good burning and seasons fast especially after the borers get at them
  12. I know their out there, never saw me one.
  13. I used to hunt the south shore , Gilgo and Tobay beaches and marshes. Excellent hunting a long time ago with endless marsh to wander thru along the bays. I hunted an area in South Hampton once but felt like I was always in somebody's backyard, which we basically were, lol
  14. One difference with a MZ there's usually no follow up shot, so the first one has to count.
  15. I've learned one thing about gun safety in my years. I never rely on the person handling the firearm within my vicinity to provide my safety. I rely on myself to avoid situations where I'm even around strangers with firearms. I stopped going to my local range for just that reason. Kinda pointless being shot dead and then saying, well that guy should've know how to handle that gun before he killed me. But I feel the same way at the range with guys who are supposedly in the know handling pistols. I stopped hunting with many guys because of the way they carry their rifles
  16. Me on the Hoyt Clagwell. Spring loaded bucket was off in this pic
  17. She does have the physique to be a good deadlifter. Good arm length and great shoulder slope. Sometimes that works against you in the bench, but sometimes not. How does she do in the bench and squat. Or was this only a deadlift competition?
  18. Always uncocked. I always lower the bucket or implement on my tractors for the same reason.
