    I remember

I remember when we used to drive around looking at all the deer that hung in people's front yards. I remember when deer used to be displayed on the fenders and roofs of cars when hunters drove home. I remember climbing the hill across the road about half-way in the dark on opening morning and watching the long stream of cars heading down the road, bumper-to-bumper. Today that same road on opening morning looks like any other day. I remember when I was a kid waiting for the bus, on opening morning, the surrounding woods in the valley sounded like some kind of war zone. Now there is a little spurt before and after the first legal shooting hours that trail off into very sporadic occasional shots.
  2. Every deer hunting rifle and shotgun that I own has a scope on it. That limits my abilities on moving targets. I also would feel a bit like I was pushing the safety envelope swinging my gun through the woods at a fleeing deer and only being able to see such a limited amount of the terrain as I am pulling the trigger. People can do whatever they feel comfortable with, but I think the higher percentages of a good humane kill for me lies with shooting calm, unaware, relaxed, deer. It just increases the chances of a happy result with no regrets.

    I remember

There is no question that hunting is being eased out of our heritage and culture. I was just thinking how things have changed, just over the course of my life, regarding how society sees hunting. I remember when: The gun hunting course was conducted in the school bus garage. I used to go to school with my hunting knife hanging on my belt after running my trapline. Kids used to actually look forward to the age when they could legally hunt. Opening day of deer season was an approved absence from school. Monday mornings at work found a rather large circle of us friends discussing the weekend hunt. It was exciting conversation when your buddies saw a deer while bowhunting........Buck, doe, adult, fawn.....any deer at all. The topic of antler scores never came up. We didn't rate our deer hunting activities in terms of "scores". Thanksgiving day dinners were delayed until suppertime so all the men could hunt. Whenever a group of men gathered for any occasion, hunting stories dominated the conversations. Discussions about hunting did not focus on the latest technology or equipment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Does anyone else remember how things have changed regarding hunting in our lives and society?
  4. Airbows and who knows what all they may come up with. I have heard arguments for inclusion of muzzleloaders. Actually they already overlap in the Northern Zone now don't they?
  5. The only impacts that I see is the continued additional precedents that are being set that says, "anything you don't know what to do with can be crammed into bow season". With technology being ever increasing in hunting implements, I see bow season evolving into things that we can't even yet imagine. I see the crossbow argument for those who are getting older and more infirm (As I am too) eventually becoming an argument for firearms inclusion. Exactly the same argument could be used for firearms too. What bothers me is that every new inclusion is a precedent for the next. History bears this out with compounds now leading to crossbows. What will crossbows lead to? That's the question we have to ask.
  6. Ever since "special seasons" were established, groups of hunters have always fought other groups of hunters from infringing on those special seasons. That is why we don't have firearms involved with bow seasons (mostly). And don't be assuming what bowhunters do or don't do as far as supporting all hunting. I don't know a lot of bowhunters who do not participate in gun season as well, and a lot are involved in the current crossbow season. Just because someone is interested in maintaining the integrity of a particular special season doesn't mean that they don't support other means of hunting.
  7. What is it about the word "illegal" in illegal aliens that people can't understand? These are people whose very presence here is based on an illegal act against our country. They do not have or deserve the protections of the constitution or any act that is currently reserved for "legal" citizens of this country (including the right to vote). That seems reasonable to me.
  8. So, is there anything that sleepy Joe has done right? ........Ever??? He has destroyed USA energy independence. He has let in all kinds of all kinds of illegal aliens by creating a wide open border. He has created an much more efficient import route through the southern border. He has created the easier import of lethal drugs through the open southern border. He has paved the way for some pretty violent and blood thirsty gang members to silently enter our communities through the open southern border. He has created opportunities for child and women abuse along the trail to the open border. He has set the foundation for a destroyed US economy (Now I can watch my retirement fund get eaten up by destructive inflation). Now he has totally screwed up our exit from Afghanistan by removing all troops before U.S. and allied personnel and U.S. assisted locals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So what have I forgotten. I'm sure there is more. Maybe I should have simplified the post by asking , "What has this guy ever done right?" I am sure that would be a much shorter list if it would even result in a list at all. I'm sorry that this post is so one-sided, but I am puzzled daily with the question of why on earth did anyone vote for Biden. I can't come up with anything that makes sense other than the fact that Trump simply had a screwed up personality. That really is a damn-fool reason for voting for or against a president. People mistook the election for a popularity contest.
  9. I can only repeat the words of a lawn-sign down the road....."Don't blame me. I voted for Trump" Is there anything that Biden has handled correctly......*ANYTHING*? I have to wonder who really is running the country. This thing and so many other U.S. crises are so unexplainably messed up in ways that really are starting to look intentional.
  10. We need more than just putting in a Republican in place of a Democrat. We don't need any more Rockefellers or Pataki - type liberals. This state needs a real voter attitude change, and that will not be found within a political party. We need voters who take their vote seriously and start going by more than simple party affiliation. We need voters who are not impressed by, or motivated by Gimme-free-stuff attitudes. We need to start understanding that there is no such thing as a free lunch. We need to get attitudes that appreciate honesty and integrity. We need to stop shrugging our shoulders every time we hear about government corruption. The reforms needed in NYS will not come from dedication to certain political parties. The changes need to come from citizen attitudes and resolve and an understanding that we get the government we deserve. Now, if someone can tell me how to make that all happen, I would appreciate hearing it. All I see from one generation to the next is an erosion of decency, family values, and commitment to honesty and character (individual and political). There has been to much shoulder shrugging and acceptance of the creeps that we New Yorkers keep electing. Behind the Cuomo's and the Spitzers and such is an ever growing majority of self-absorbed voters who look for more "free stuff" and promises of personal gain and who will accept anyone who promises that sort of thing.

    He Gone!!

Do they all reach up under women's blouses and grab their asses as a demonstration of warmth....lol. Come on....The guy is a filthy perve who has a God complex and thought that he could get away with anything he wanted.
  12. After months of stories and believable allegations Andy is out of the picture. But now I have to wonder what life will be like under Governor Hochul? Anybody have the lowdown on her other than she will become the first female NYS Governor. Are we going from the frying pan into the fire? I have no idea what her views are on anything.
  13. So far, I have not found a reason to resist taking the Trump vaccine. I do remember that when I was a little tyke, there was a whole list of vaccinations that were mandated in order for me to enter public schools. The same thing was required when I enrolled my two boys in the public school system years ago. I don't recall any moral or political issues being involved then, and I also had no problem with an injection of the Trump vaccine. I got it for my own well being so that being an old fart, I felt I was lessening a threat to my life. I do wear seatbelts too. It began to satisfy a law, but today it just plain feels weird to be going down the road without being buckled up. After reasonable logic, it seemed that it is the smart thing to do, and no particular sane reasons not to. This vaccine falls into the same category. It is not a nice situation that such things have become a mandate mandated, but to me it just plain makes sense to get it. Is it really a moral dilemma? It wasn't for me, but I do understand that there are people who do not want to be forced by government to put a material into their body. I have not yet become quite that paranoid yet. But I will not belittle those that have these kinds of concerns even though I cannot understand the resistance.
  14. I know that even now that many top democratic power-houses are calling for Cuomo's resignation it is looking pretty bad for his survival. But remember that this is NYS. He has dirt on enough people to weasel his way through most of this. Another thing to think about is: If he goes what kind of freak will replace him. He is merely a symptom that reflects the politics of NYS. Look at the quality and make-up of what NYS voters have consistently elected.
  15. We continue to figure out ways to extend social and physical inconveniences and our citizens while at the same time mass-importing covid through our southern borders and distributing the non-citizen carriers throughout the states. Does that make sense to anyone here?
  16. Ha-ha-ha....When did I get promoted to the Trump campaign legal team. I hate to tell you, but it is not my responsibility to present evidence. The Trump team has professionals to handle that responsibility. And I am trying to find a delicate way to put this, but your attempts to again restate a falsehood does not make it true regarding your claim that courts are rejecting ALL of the lawsuits. They have not even been all presented yet. And before you continue trying to put words in my mouth, I have never said anything about how "widespread" or not I believe these illegal practices are. As individual citizens, neither you or I can credibly ascertain the extent of the fraud and manipulation of votes. And we will never know until at least one or more of these impending cases comes up before an honest non-political court and actually gets heard in a public fashion. I am not sure what it is that frightens you so about such open investigation and scrutiny. I am convinced that election crimes have been committed and I am interested in seeing those prosecuted, which apparently you are not. Whether or not the results change the winner is not my concern. I am more interested in seeing corruption unmasked and maybe even have justice meted out to those people who would mess with the voting system. apparently you would rather not like to know anything about trying to clean up corruption in the election system. It is just a difference in opinions as to whether election fraud is okay or not. Apparently it is no big deal to you. The whole damn system could be broke and apparently that would be fine with you. I'm sorry, but I do not share that same attitude.
  17. Do not lose faith in the country. Our system of government makes it possible for us to survive even while being deeply divided. We have never been 100% united. We never will. I have not seen another system of government that is better. But I will say that I do wonder what makes people try to defend the flaws. I do give Trump credit for trying to shine light on the extent of vote manipulation. It is a problem that will not be solved or even worked on until it is widely demonstrated. But we have survived far worse problems than this and still emerged a one single country, stronger than ever. We will get by all this if we are persistent. Yes, I get a little touchy when I see people trying to cover up fraud and corruption and even conjure up arguments favorable to these kinds of offenses. But I know that these kinds of people are still in the minority and I absolutely resist letting those forces of destruction win.
  18. I admire your massive knowledge of what the Supreme Court will or won't do. It is amazing how authoritative you make your "guesses" sound. I still am curious as to why you keep on thrashing around trying to convince people that allegations of fraud and voting irregularities should simply be ignored. It is hard to believe that any citizens of this country would adopt such a "head-in-the-sand" attitude toward crime, but yet, here you are, trying to make the argument that fraud and voting cheating should simply be ignored. It's not really an admirable attitude. I say let it play out (and of course it will) and stop trying so hard to defend the crooks that are intent on bastardizing the voting system. Frankly, I am getting sick of those apologists for the crooked ways of politics. I personally applaud any efforts to shine the light of day on the activities of these cheaters, and I have very little sympathy for those that would like to see all that continue without investigation.
  19. The state land next door was taken over by mountain bikers. Apparently a huge club of some sort got DEC permission to hack and blaze a heavy maze of trails all over the side of the hill and all over the the top. Some how they managed to run the trails right next to all of my most productive stands that over the decades I had located and exploited. Then with these new heavy rutted up bike trails and the trees splashed with different colors of paint, The hikers began to heavily use these bike trails too. Screaming, laughing, and shouting back and forth to each other they increased the density of the trails to the point where it was almost impossible to get out of earshot of them throughout the entire area. So almost 60 years of studying and learning of the area is pretty much trashed. So I do understand the complaints and do sympathize. However, around our area, when gun season begins they all abandon the trails ...... Probably afraid of getting shot by the crazy red-coated hunters. But bow season has changed significantly for the worse over the past couple of decades. It's just a sign of the times I guess and likely is not going to get any better.
  20. It is not true that "all of the lawsuits have been rejected". There are 11,000 incidents of voter fraud, most of which have not even been presented in any court yet. So let's at least try to keep the claims as honest as you can. If there was only one, I would expect that you and other democrats would want it to be investigated and any perpetrators arrested and prosecuted regardless of whether or not it had any impact on the final result. Personally I want these cheaters and vote manipulators made an example of regardless of which affiliation they come from. I do not understand why you do not.
  21. I don't know. I am not part of the Trump campaign legal team. Just like you, I have absolutely no idea as to what kinds of information is in all those sworn affidavits any more than you do. The amount of time will eventually be settled in the courts. Our "opinions" of what is an adequate amount of time really have no bearing on your question. It will take as long as it takes. With something like the sanctity of the vote at stake, I do not really understand what your hurry is. There is nothing illegal going on. All that is being done is according to the legal process. Would you rather we spend the next 4 years doing all we can to stall the function of the government. Now that dems have set that precedent of not accepting a duly elected president. Remember "Russia-Russia-Russia" all based on a concocted dossier that Hilary bought and paid for. Maybe some phony impeachment activity is more your style than questioning sworn to instances of voter fraud. Or how about we start burning down the establishments of innocent small business owners. That seems to be the democrat/ socialist way of contesting an election whose outcome doesn't align with their agenda. I mean, you are complaining about a few weeks of examination of the sanctity of the vote when you and your bunch of socialists kept the U.S. government in constant turmoil for the better part of 4 years. I have to wonder what kind of hypocrisy it takes to even ask your question.
  22. Remember how giddy we all got when the government decided to tax tobacco to change citizen behavior. It worked like a charm, didn't it? Well the government took note of how well they could move around any and all citizen rights with punitive taxation. Now they will use that behavior modification technique on guns and ammo and shooting accessories. And it will work just as well. All this without there ever being any need to mess with that pesky 2nd Amendment. This is only the beginning.
  23. I am speaking of every democrat that breathes....lol. It is not hypocrisy to be concerned about the integrity of the U.S. voting system. If there are sworn affidavits alleging fraud or failures of the system, I can't really understand why members of either party wouldn't be interested in finding and correcting things that impact the accuracy of results whether it changes the outcome or not.
  24. So the pinkos are now successful in politicizing a vaccine. It almost sounds like they are hopeful that it doesn't work. What kind of geniuses get that sort of hatred working for them. Frankly, I will be as close to the head of the line as I can get. I am in the high-risk part of the population, and I don't have the Trump Derangement Syndrome to the point of imagining up some conspiracy theory regarding mass homicide organized by Donald Trump. You people are starting to get severely ridiculous.
