  1. I'll echo your point regarding young people. A few years ago I took a 4-H Youth to State Fair who identified as male. I obviously had conversations with their parents, county and state staff. We all agreed to let the youth stay in the boys dorm since that is how they identified. As the lead educator and chaperone for my county I expected to at least have to field a few questions or comments from other youth and chaperones (this is a statewide event). I never heard a peep, and they youth had a great experience. They are now a few years older and are a valuable volunteer in our program. I think it's just human nature in that it’s hard to get our minds around things that are outside of long held "norms", and that includes myself. I've had to do a lot of learning and reflection in supporting non-gender conforming youth. I've seen that other youth are a lot more open and accepting of "different", and all I can assume is that they have just grown up in a different world that I have. As a youth educator, I just want to do the best I can to create an environment where all of these youth feel cared for and supported. The most important thing that I learned starting off is that "sex" and "gender" aren't always the same thing. I understand the divide in the issue, and I'm not in any position to bridge it...but I'm doing the best I can in my own understanding.
  2. I've had both my doses now. My wife is really on top of things for her family and staff. She has spent hours on the registration pages between NY and FL trying to get appointments. I would have given up after 10 minutes. Regardless, I had both doses at UAlbany, Pfizer. No issues other than a bit of a sore spot at the injection site. I was warned by multiple people, including the nurse administering the vaccine, that the 2nd dose is usually a doozy. However, I didn't have any adverse side-effects. I also didn't have any issues at the vaccine site. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The National Guard folks did a great job of direction, and they had plenty of staff/volunteers.
  3. It's fine, it comes with the territory I guess. I've tried to stop posting in the political section so much, mainly because things go off the rails with some folks when they smell a "leftist" in the room. Funny thing is, I never realized I was one until I joined this forum I've sunk myself a couple of times by getting too invested in this sub-forum. And your last point is spot on!
  4. Too funny, I'm so used to getting attacked on here when I mention that I voted for Biden, that I didn't get your point. Seeing who it was coming from, I should have known better. That is entirely my fault for assuming your intent, sorry. I'm not saying I agree with this policy, and I agree with most every point you've raised. I don't need to rehash them, you did a good job of presenting that point of view. I guess what I'm saying, is as the "target" (too harsh of a word, I know), I'm not too worried about this companies policies.
  5. Great advice. Check with you County Soil and Water Conversation District, they probably do a sale. Cooperative Extension is another great resource.
  6. Oh trust me, if someone doesn't want my business, they won't get it. I have no issue with that. Besides, everyone on the internet is 100% honest
  7. As someone who voted for Biden, I could really care less. I had never heard of them before this, so they wouldn't have gotten my business if they did want it. Shoot, the press will probably increase their business, so good for them. I also see they were one of those places that took a "No Masks Allowed" stance for "safety" purposes. One of the local shops near me lost my business because of their "no masks allowed" policy. I'm not a high volume buyer, so I'm sure it's not a big deal to either one of us. The way I see it, as a consumer, I can choose who I do business with, and as a business, they can as well. Of course that hinges on discriminatory practices, which I think most would agree, this isn't. And let's be honest, having a pop-up that asks if you voted for Biden when you go to their website isn't really "refusing to serve". I like to think I'm a fairly honest fellow, but that pop-up isn't exactly a barrier for purchase. I like to think I'm a fairly honest fellow, but I didn't have any issue entering their website. They're sold out of everything like everyone else anyways...
  8. Thanks for this. It spurred me to see about getting a harness with a quick release. I ended up ordering the Muddy Elite off Amazon for $38. Not near as good as $11, but still a decent price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07BX2JPSM?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
  9. Great question. I honestly have never looked at the ballistics, and have never shot to that range. I would let someone else who is more knowledgeable field that one. Thanks for sharing the photo, I might have to dig a little deeper on that.
  10. I get the best groups out of my New Englander with 70gr. RS Pyrodex. “Best group, best charge” is a great way of putting it.
  11. I had a bout with this after my daughter was born. The doctor said it was common due to having to carry around a car seat. It was shooting pains up my forearm starting at the elbow. It was excruciating to shake someone’s hand. I got a brace like the in the link at the bottom. It didn’t totally get rid of it, but I think it helped. Fortunately it only hung around for about 6 months, and I haven’t had any issues since. I hope it clears up for you, it really sucks. https://www.amazon.com/Tomight-Elbow-Brace-Tennis-Compression/dp/B01M0F5IA4/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=tennis+elbow+brace&qid=1613133466&sprefix=tennis+elbo&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVDVVVFkwUE85SFQ2JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjY2NzExOExIODlDMllQRDAwJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAzNTYwMzAyWEtVNFZEMlhPSjVEJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
  12. I've seen a few rubs in the sand below that big south hill. I don't go down that way to often because the sand burrs tear my terrier up, but I know there's a few that run down that way.
  13. There’s a nice little preserve near my house. Woods Hollow Preserve in Milton.
  14. Had a quick little snowshoe trip with my favorite hiking buddy this morning. Didn’t see much outside of a woodpecker, but the woods was beautiful.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. We ended up snowshoeing for a couple of hours (I bought my first pair today). It was a great outing.
  16. Man, any other time I’d take you up on that. Thanks for the offer.
  17. She might love it, but I don’t have the first clue how to do it
  18. Her boss invited us to stay at a cabin up there, but we’re opting for a day trip.
  19. Yeah, I'm thinking something that will allow us to parse out our outdoor time...
  20. My wife is meeting her boss up at Whiteface tomorrow, and wants me and our 2 year old daughter to come along. I am happy to just get out of the house for a little while. Does anyone have any experience up in that area and can suggest some fun activities for a toddler? I'm thinking about renting some snowshoes (never tried it) and putting Ellie in my hiking carrier, but that will probably only be for a couple of hours. Any advice would be appreciated!
  21. Thank you Lord! I’m glad she’s been found and happy for you and your family. Great news to start the day with.
  22. Just prepping the space, building a flight pen, and getting the supplies you’ll need. The good thing is that once you have everything, you’re set to do it for years. If you take a look at the “guide” on the website, it does a nice job of outlining everything that is needed.
