    Good hit?

Good luck, I have a feeling you will find her.
  4. Best of luck, you still have the best part of the season, health first! Glade your OK, now get better! And get ready for November RUT!
  5. The invite is open! I have 2 more passes for the year I believe. Great place to shoot with varied terrain and targets. Great practice. If I was not under the weather I would be their now.

    ADK Bow

Good luck to all the bow hunters tomorrow up in the Northern tier. Hope you get to use your tags!!! Be safe, hope to see some early success!
  7. I never used calls for a long time but in the past 10 years or so I have found they are pretty awesome IF you use them correctly. Love the doe can calls and I typically use a high pitched grunt call imitating a young buck. My excessive calling involves about 4-5 calls a day. I do not want the deer to be aware of my calling and wow can they pin point your location!
  8. Its ok for close shots. Plus the video quality is pretty good but only within 20 yards. This is from Suffolk Archers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRg7lbZqAKk This is from last years hunt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXFZgf0Xeb0
  9. For those of you who think that a week is enough time to be ready for archery season I have a challenge for you. Pick a day and I will meet you at Suffolk Archers and take you through the course. If you can keep up with my score you are ready. (within 20 pts) For a larger group we can do Thrill of the Hunt but I consider that a simple course. Otherwise how do you know if: 1)Your bow is still in tune, string wear, peep alignment, nothing rattling or loose 2)Your arrows fly the same with field tips and broadheads. 3)Your form is consistent, uphill, downhill vs flat ground shooting, estimating yardage, compensation 4)Trigger pull, drop of your aiming arm, picking up your aiming arm, elevation changes up and down 5)Target panic? Or don't worry about it and just shoot 20 arrows before the season and your ready, lol. Sure you are, just keep saying that. Plain and simple not everyone can shoot 3+ days a week like me, family, work and other things pulling on life have that effect. The dedicated archers get at least a couple hundred shots in before the season shooting at least a month before to fix any issues with form or the bow. +1 w/gun you can't be a crack shot if you don't practice shooting and get off the dam bench rest unless you bring that with you hunting!
  10. I bailed on ADK bow due to 70 deg temps and will do opening on LI instead. I know they still move but this type of weather tends to shut down daytime activity.
  11. Some people are really bad hunters, so they poach, bait and do what ever they can to get a deer. When I talk about serious hunters these people are never part of the topic. They are not serious hunters they are just poachers who suck at hunting. Please do not associate these pathetic loser's with real hunters, I take it personally.
  12. All day hunting is exerting, especially if you still hunt or track! Triple decker honey ham/turkey/cheese sandwich, I stuff it into a Tupperware bowl. Chips and a soda to wash lunch down. Trail mix, 3 musketeers, apple, granola bars, Gatorade, another soda and a water or vitamin water. I carry less liquids on LI as I am much more restricted in area. (Halloween candy!)
  13. It does look awesome! I want one!
  14. I tell all the newbie hunters to not spend a bunch on clothes but it usually falls on deaf ears. Sometimes you can get deals with coupons from mailing lists and certain items. I usually hit the stores after December and find some good clothes on sale but you do have to search. I use parkers and fleece when its cold with packable raingear. The new under garments are nice for moister wicking that for sure, well worth the price when on sale. The prices are pathetic I have to agree. Happy my old clothes still work but some are really worn, thankfully I have enough for a few years more.
  15. It should not matter as long as your drop away rest is working. Some have it straight up and some have it to the rt, the arrows will shoot exactly the same.
  16. Camo hat is as far as I go but 2 years ago in Inlet I walked into a gas station/convenience store and resupplied my wood after 13 days of hunting, I forgot I had camo war paint on. WOW what a look the girl gave me! I was face whipped a few times in the dark so the blood on my face added to the camo effect! I scared myself when I looked in the mirror so I understood her horror.
  17. When are we getting the contest card for the photo's? Will this be e-mailed or a link on the site?
  18. Large tract of land with few deer. Many hunters do not see any deer during a weeks hunt, myself included. Many familiar with the area tell me their are NO deer here. Makes getting one that much more rewarding. This is remote rugged country be prepared as many who enter these woods find calamity when they are unprepared. Are you planning on hunting this area? Bow/gun, solo? Deer, bear or small game? What part do you want to hunt?
